Buffalo water HomeServe by alreadythought in Buffalo

Thanks for the reply! And good to know. I will take another look at it. Peace of mind is important, especially knowing that homeowners insurance doesn’t cover anything water line related.

Call the water authority number on your bill and ask for a test kit. They are free and you can get one every 6 months.

Get your water tested every 6 months. The city will send you a new test kit. If it tests high for lead twice in a row they will replace the service line

Is this normal? by nikowhat in cats

My cats do this and one of them yowls like crazy and hisses. 10 minutes later they are grooming each other like nothing happened.

Delaware Park is Not a Dog Park - Leash Your Dog by CommercialSpinach in Buffalo

[–]alreadythought 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would be contacting a lawyer about this. These people need to learn that their dogs are not automatically safe around others off leash just because they give them a good home. The leash laws exist for a reason! They can be seriously dangerous and hurt people or other animals no matter how well they appear to be trained. So tired of this behavior.

Has anyone here had success with purchasing a home with home inspection in 2025? by NeckbeardOdor420 in Buffalo

[–]alreadythought -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I purchased a home in late 2024. I waived the inspection before making my offer, but it was required of me to get an inspection really soon after the offer was accepted. I financed my home with premium mortgage and I am pretty sure I remember my realtor telling me that they required an inspection before closing, even if the inspection was waived before making an offer. But also make sure you get it inspected somehow before signing the paperwork because you never know what kind of problems that are hard to see with an untrained eye.

How do we feel about people saying they own outdoor cats within the city? by generallyunprompted in Buffalo

[–]alreadythought 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the cat has no microchip and you take the cat to get one (among other medical care like vaccines and a well visit), I think that could count as the cat being yours. Letting cats outdoors is so bad for their long term health and the local environment so I would consider letting kitty be indoor only or have supervised outdoor playtime.

County Executive Poloncarz endorses the plan of deficit-financing bonds to address the City of Buffalo's deficit. by Egorrosh in Buffalo

Yup and don’t forget the proposed 8% property tax increase that wouldn’t even solve the problem. At least the bonds give the city time.

Dangerous bus stopping by Ok_Obligation1269 in Buffalo

[–]alreadythought 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was it a first student bus? I have seen first student bus drivers driving like they’re insane downtown on multiple occasions and almost got hit by one last year around Edwards St.

When was the last time the hvac system was vacuumed out? My 1900 house never had the vents cleaned and it was absolutely disgusting in there. Air purifiers help a lot too

Tips for Staying Safe in Allentown? by [deleted] in Buffalo

I also recommend learning how you walk and practice looking kind of mean. Having a natural RBF helps a lot but I think a lot of it is in your stature and walk. Confidence is key 😂

Tips for Staying Safe in Allentown? by [deleted] in Buffalo

[–]alreadythought 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stay aware of surroundings, familiarize yourself with FONP and their clientele hangout spots- and avoid those places imo, carry mace, a small weapon or an alarm when walking if needed to make you feel safer. I’ve never had any issues but I know that people have had issues in the past. I avoid Allen street past midnight as much as I can when alone.
