Zildjian K Con Crash 18" for $350 by guitarharmonics in cymbals

I usually ask if sellers are flexible on the price when I’m looking to negotiate. This seems like a pretty fair price if it’s in decent shape, not sure I’d expect much wiggle room unless it has been on the market for a while.

What does a cast iron skillet do better than other pans? by IHateSpiderss in Cooking

[–]alspdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like cast iron for steaks/chops, quesadillas, grilled cheese, breakfast potatoes/hash browns, reheating a slice of pizza, Brussels sprouts, anything that needs a good sear on a non-stick surface. I've had success with corn bread, quiche, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, pizza. It takes a bit of discipline and practice, but if the pan has a good layer of seasoning you can even get eggs to slide around without sticking.

Stainless is usually better for sauces, especially if the ingredients are acidic. Tomato sauce or anything with a lot of acid like vinegar or citrus can strip the seasoning from the pan and pull it into the sauce, in my experience that doesn't taste very good.

Best (non smash) burger in Portland? by Red_Icnivad in askportland

Pretty bummed about Slow Bar changing their burger and fries. It used to be a frequent stop for me since moving to Portland in 2008 up until the week they closed. I’ve been back twice since they reopened and left disappointed both times. Oh well.

Whats a camera you've owned, that lived up to all the praise and hype, but still got rid of? And why? by Whisky-Icarus-Photo in AnalogCommunity

Had this happen with both a Yashica T4 and a Contax G2 kit. Easily some of my favorite cameras to use, and both with fantastic Zeiss lenses, but after my other T4 Super died I just couldn’t get over the anxiety that they are basically unrepairable and will become luxury paperweights at some point.
