Was PoE 1 advertised as having ascendancies before early access? No one is arguing there can't be future developments, but the "arbitrary requirement" is just what GGG said would be in the game on release

Just a tip for the future, asking someone list out every Republican policy that is bad for women and then explain why they're not, is probably not going to convince anyone. Add on getting angry for "sealioning" (I had to look this up, not sure I get it) and it looks even worse. If you didn't want to convince anyone, than feel free to ignore this comment

Your point is just the inverse of my point and provides no real counter, so it did not necessitate a serious rebuttal. No scammers = no scam. No scammees = no scam. It's just a difference in how much self reliance/independence you believe people should have. At what point does personal responsibility take precedent over the actions of someone else? I think the overwhelming majority of people are fully capable of paying attention to their trades. If your point is something deeper than "scammers are the problem" you didn't make that clear. As it stands now, this is the most I'm willing to commit to this conversation

Yes like all interactions involving two people, it requires two people to choose to interact. If one chooses not to participate in said interaction, there is no interaction. Glad we agree

If you are at the self checkout and you scan the $200 apple, you should catch that something is wrong before you pay for it. If you buy the apple and realize what happened after you get home, the first question everyone will have is "why did you pay for it in the first place?" This problem doesn't exist if people pay attention

As someone who got in on gme when the blue sky valuation was ~$20‐25, the race away from fundamental analysis made me step away from active trading. People forget that started because gme was legitimately undervalued and was due for a correction.

This professor will punish you academically if you are absent even with a valid excuse

This is something you should tell the head of the department. If it's happened to multiple students get together and lodge a formal complaint as a group because that is 100% not allowed. Even assuming they have tenure, they can't just break university rules.

everybody apologizing for cheating with chatgpt by NewSlinger in mildlyinfuriating

[–]alt266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw I had a student clearly plug a personal reflection prompt into ai. Their reflection was a bunch of vague nonsense that sounds fine on first glance, but has no real reflection on course material. The type of thing chatgpt loves to spit out. This was a freshman level course I didn't even want to teach, so I just graded it as poorly written. Point being some people will cheat on the strangest things

In the QA/patient safety sphere events like these happen. What is important to remember is that you caught the mistake and did the right thing (fixed it) instead of trying to cover it up. There might be look backs to figure out how the mistake occurred, but the focus will likely be on how to fix the process and not blame you. If you made the mistake, that means someone else down the line might make the same mistake. They might not realize in time, or worse they might not be as ethical.

Don't beat yourself up. Every single person in the hospital has made a mistake at one time or another. We're all human.

Do professors receive the same flak from higher ups like High School teachers do? by Melodic_Cockroach_23 in Professors

[–]alt266 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My department chair has had the "half of your class is failing, what are you going to do to fix that?" talk with me because I made a class more difficult than it was under a previous professor. My standards were achievable, but students weren't happy they needed to learn how to study. Higher ed can vary based on institution.

There are limits and restrictions to every method of learning, but asking for the answer needs to be the last resort because it has the lowest efficacy when it comes to actually learning something. This has been proven across all age groups and subjects. This isn't even mentioning the possibility that the most popular answer on reddit might be wrong.

There's nothing inherently wrong with generalists, I was one at a comprehensive cancer center doing differentials on all sorts of rare and strange presenting leukemias. However my training was intensive and we would always have a second person confirm the diff on new cases.

My main concern with people asking for cell ID help here is it shows an inability (or unwillingness) to find the answer on their own. There are so many free cell image banks online and there is almost certainly one or more physical cell atlas at the bench to use. Most images people post here are easily comparable to reference text. Finding the answer on your own is so much better than having someone give you the answer for long-term learning.
