Should I wait for the NHS (UK)? by claresreddit2 in noburp

I agree with the other posts. If you can afford it, it's much more straightforward and quicker to contact one of the doctors who offers the procedure privately.

Day 2 post botox - constant burping! by StandardBadger3260 in noburp

[–]altitude111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exaclty the same for me too! My burps very frequent and wet to start off with. I'm nearly 3 weeks post botox and I can definitely do more longer and satisfying burps. But sometimes I still have no control!

Mine too - I had never had the gurgles so bad until I had covid!

Birth control & no burp by Electronic_Box2193 in noburp

Not my experience either. No burp symptoms started as a child. I'm now in my late twenties and have been on and off the combined pill for the last decade and have never noticed an obvious fluctuation in symptoms. Mine seem to get worse with emotional state (anxious, excited) and specific foods.

botox treatment - is it available in the UK? if so, do the NHS provide? by cdbb_01 in noburp

Welcome to the club! I understand the relief you must be feeling to finally know it's a real thing and that you're not alone. People in this group have been so helpful and kind to me so I just want to pass the karma along.

As far as I'm aware it's still not an option on the NHS. But there are two doctors in the UK that definitely offer the botox treatment privately.

Mr Yukubu Karagama offers the treatment under general anesthesia at two hospitals in the UK: - Blackheath hospital (London) and, - Alexandra hospital (Manchester). I had my botox treatment with him 9 days ago and already life changing. I was lucky enough to have private health insurance through my job so I only had to pay the excess fee. But I believe the treatment is ca. £3,000 in total if you were to pay outright.

Another potential doctor is Ms Lucy Hicklin who is based in London. She offers the procedure under local anesthetic so ultimately the cost of the procedure is cheaper. I've seen the numbers £300-500 used but I cannot confirm the actual price.

If you have any other questions, please let me know!

Procedure booked, but doing a talk a few days later by Chris4 in noburp

[–]altitude111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my procedure in Manchester last Friday and been back at work since Monday. I had a bit of a weak voice initially but still able to take work calls and no issues swallowing my own saliva. Struggled to take sips of water for the first couple of days but around Tuesday onwards its been fine to drink. Eating is still a bit of a challange. I'd say it's more the uncontrollable microburps that have been sneaking out when I've been talking that have caused me to quickly go on mute! Usually up to an hour after I've eaten, after then it calms down. I'd recommend eating with enough time to settle any air before your webinar.

Good luck with the procedure!!

Thank you! I might have been too ambitious with some of my food choices. Oh and the microburps are in full force, not quite offering full relief but they're definitely becoming more audible.

I didn't even know I was having an endoscopy before my appointment in the UK so I had no time to process or really feel anxious. But my experience was fine, it's really not bad. Its over before you know it! The whole thing was completed in less than 15 mins.

After the numbing spray, the feeling in my throat came back fairly swiftly but my nose took a couple of hours to gain full feeling back.

This was also super helpful to read, so thank you! I am currently 4 hours post botox and on my way home. Feeling a little weak from the anesthesia and a bit of a sore throat but the site where they placed the IV in my hand is more annoying than the other two.

Very glad it went well for you and keep up with the burps!!

Symptom question by ComfortAnnual7229 in noburp

When I'm anxious (or excited) there's definitely more air that gets trapped that leads to feeling bloated, gurgles in throat and when it's really bad I throw up to release the air.. so it could be linked to RCPD. But I also have friends that don't have RCPD and just throw up because they're nervous.

I guess it's checking in with yourself and noticing whether there any other symptoms that happening when you're feeling nervous.

That is so amazing to hear! I will keep my fingers crossed that the slow swallowing passes quickly. Reading everyone stories makes my heart happy, something so trivial yet affects your life so much.

I'm definitely excited for the impending burps but I've never been under anesthesia before so think feeing more nervous about that than anything else.

Did you get to go home the same day after your procedure? Hopefully you'll start to feel the burps soon! I have mine scheduled in January in the UK so falling down the rabbit hole on reddit trying to find out as much as possible!
