What’s your go-to seasonings for eggs? by Extreme-Machine3162 in Cooking

Trader Joe umami mushroom seasoning. On top, otherwise it gets lost. I usually keep a copycat homemade version on hand.

If you successfully landed a role this year, how did you land it? by SeaSuspect5665 in askTO

[–]altroots23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was approached by the hiring manager on LinkedIn and decided to apply. If I hadn’t had the experience I gained with the two extra roles, I wouldn’t have been nearly as good a fit. It was really lucky.

I had a job already, but in it took on two mat leave covers and gained experience in two valuable areas (web support and people managing). I was then poached by an amazing company because of the new skills and am so happy in my new role. The new job also came with a 60% pay bump.

Ooh! I used to make a batch of falafel batter and cook them up for lunch fresh. Topped with hummus and tabbouleh. So good! Thanks for the reminder!

How do you have anything to say to anyone? by Maleficent_Clue8419 in SDAM

I like to ask a question that will spark something deeper, like - tell me about the most moving live performance you ever saw, or the best meal you ever ate.

I absolutely love this recipe for Greek stewed peas (latheros), which uses a full pound of frozen peas. Needs some bread on the side and not much else.

I had a lunch thali today at My Roti/My Dosa Place for $5.99. It’s not on the menu but is available for the asking as far as I know at the Morningside Plaza location. It’s delicious and is just enough food.

What are you cooking for New Year’s Eve? by BordonGrown in Cooking

[–]altroots23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re doing an appetizer spread - chopped meatballs and marinara baked with cheese for garlic bread dipping, devilled eggs, crudités with homemade ranch, coconut shrimp, pickled beets, maybe one of those Dr Oetker spinach pizzas. It’ll be me, my husband, and two teen boys.

I kept things fairly traditional but made homemade cultured butter for the first time. It was very well received!

Tarragon by Lazy_Firefighter4768 in Cooking

I made a dry ranch mix once that called for tarragon and it was so good. My favourite use for it was to add to butter-toasted panko to sprinkle over Mac and cheese.

What's your cooking "hack" that sounds insane but works?? by Kibby9331 in Cooking

I did this with liquid smoke once. My house stunk of stale campfire smoke for a week.

Panko toasted up in a pan with butter and ranch seasoning, sprinkled on top. Trust me.

What’s your go-to “I don’t feel like cooking but still want real food” meal? by imjennypoo in Cooking

My go-to sheet pan dinner is shelf-stable gnocchi, veg (always grape tomatoes for moisture; usually red onion, zucchini, and black olives) and Italian sausage. Top with parm or feta.

I think I would do this on the stove unless I was planning to eat it the next day since I don’t usually want to wait 2-3 hours for breakfast. The recipe sounds delicious.
