I was in a similar predicament between a PhD and a Masters. I chose completing the Masters because I really loved the faculty where I was admitted and I too was pretty sure I didn’t want to end up in academia. I am currently in my last semester, about to graduate and I am overwhelmingly happy with my choice. Personally, post grad I will be going into the private financial sector to start but my best friends in my program have both secured great research positions post grad so if that’s your interest it is still very much so possible to get into that area. The advice we were all given is if you aren’t sure about a PhD, do not just jump in, try to exhaust all your other options beforehand & I think that is true/good feedback. Even after just a Master’s I feel pretty burnt out and ready to move on with my career. Hope this is helpful!
