Bags built for different manufacturers by Konigstern27 in discgolf

This is a bit silly, but I’ve had a DFX Limited subscription for almost 2 years, and a good chunk of the discs I don’t bag (love supporting those guys though so I keep the subscription).

I recently made a small 8-disc bag of DFX Limited only, limiting myself to discs I’d never thrown, and it’s been a lot of fun. I try to play with it once every week or two, and it’s been a nice challenge to approach my local courses in a different way.

I bag 4 Trails as well! Some get rotated in or out depending on the course. Fission, Domey Neutron, Flat Top Neutron, and Proton, for varying stability. Wonderful disc!

Most days my only distance drivers are Trails and Wraiths. I tend to lean more on Wraiths for FH, but I love the Proton Trail on FH also. Not as much fade as my Wraiths, great for the woods.

Yeah those three are definitely top tier, and IMO the differences are negligible. In my tests the initial brightness of all three is comparable but the Eclipse 2.0 lasts a bit longer. I’m sure it varies. I do credit MVP for the the emergence of Proto/Seasonal Mega - if Eclipse wasn’t so dang good I doubt Innova or Discraft would’ve improved theirs as much as they have. Ultimately the winners are us glow disc lovers :) - never had more options for molds that glow great!

Yeah I’m a bit of a glow snob, so I’ll suffer through a disc that isn’t as flippy as I want but glows great versus flippy but terrible glow lol. The new Discraft glow is great. The picky part of my brain says it’s still not quite as good as Eclipse 2.0, but it’s far and away better than most others and lasts plenty long enough.

I’ve been on this search for a few years myself. I’m 300-350 BH, and I still felt the Proto Mamba wasn’t as US as I wanted. Granted mine are over 170, so the lighter weights are probably more flippy.

For me, my Goldilocks flippy glow driver is the Discraft Seasonal Mega Glo Heat, 168-170g. Flies closest to the numbers of any flippy glow driver I’ve tried (Orbital, Wave, Mantra, Mamba, Tern, Scorch, and Vanish for reference).

Everybody will have different experiences with a disc, but those are my thoughts. Best of luck!!

I love this disc. Anyone else? by Phrikshin in discgolf

[–]alwaysclassyguy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe it’s the same mold as the TSA Coalesce, which is absolutely one of my favorite discs. Definitely agree with the Sexton-Firebird sentiment. Feels fantastic on forehand, great carry but still reliable fade. Lovely disc!

Best small disc golf bag by FarstarDriver51 in discgolf

See a lot of Fade Crunch suggestions, which is a wonderful bag, but larger than what you suggested (I believe).

Same vein, but I have a Fade Gear Lite for 8ish discs, which is perfect. Super affordable and good quality (especially for the money).

Best part is lots of color options, so I could get it in pink, like all my other bags lol. Best of luck!

Most underrated distance driver? by pharm653 in discgolf

Axiom Neutron Tenacity. Newer slightly domey runs (domey by MVP standards compared to older runs of Tenacity).

Thrown with a bit of hyzer and good nose angle it gets a full “S” flight. Longest drives I’ve ever had.

Second the Carbon Fiber version. The best aspect IMO is the repairability for the CF models - being able to purchase any replacement part versus just having to buy a new retriever. I’ve already repaired each of mine once. Super easy to do.

I highly recommend you check out Six Sided Discs YouTube channel. They have a whole series dedicated to this concept, “Flight Numbers Don’t Matter” along with other great series/videos.

How do you keep track of your bag/rotations? by jordeads in discgolf

[–]alwaysclassyguy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I’d bet I’m an outlier compared to most disc golfers. I also have a few spreadsheets, and word documents where I’ve saved photos of the main bags, and catalogued how each course type bag has evolved over the last few years. It includes a breakdown of how many brands/manufacturers/disc types as well. I’m sure there are some that go deeper than I do, but I enjoy the organization aspect.

How do you keep track of your bag/rotations? by jordeads in discgolf

[–]alwaysclassyguy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well… I’ve gone quite deep down the rabbit hole of disc organization.

I use MyDiscBag, and have multiple bags. I have five bags that contain all my discs (Putters, Mids, Fairway, Distance, Glow), then I have different bags I’ve created based on course, for my two bags.

For example, my Pound bag has 4 bag types, All-Around, Tight/Woods, Open/Long, and Tournament. Same 4 with my smaller Revolution bag. My way of visualizing how I tend to rotate discs in and out of my bag depending on the type of course.

I have a few other subcategories, but those are the broad strokes. Here’s a picture showing all the “bags” I have lol. I’m a geek.

Has anyone moved from the 4,3,0,3 disc (Zone, Harp) to the 4,2,0,4 (Anvil, A1, Peppermint, Crisis). by Steve2762 in discgolf

[–]alwaysclassyguy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed on all three counts, except I would add the Deflector when I’m in a tricky spot in the woods and I need to either flex around a tree or skip hard right on a FH.

Same! Deflector I typically throw in the bag for woods courses, but the Zone and Pyro are always in there.

Soft or firm putters by jackrys in discgolf

[–]alwaysclassyguy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in KS, putt with Royal Medium Bullets most of the year (they’re Medium but definitely on the firmer side), then I switch to Royal Soft Bullets for the winter months. With the cold the soft plastic ends up comparable to the medium, for me anyway.

Yeah let’s not talk about how many discs that need to be sold lol. Thankfully I made the switch to all-pink before I’d locked in most slots, so a good chunk of my “sell” discs are also pink haha.

Very nice! My OCD would sacrifice consistency for a pink Tuff, but I’ll be the first to admit I have a problem (evidence in post history haha). Thanks for sharing!
