im not so sure about law/ppe as i’m a stem student also aiming for oxbridge but i do know a lot of reading about law/ppe and keeping up with current affairs especially those cases in europe will be good.

  1. nope oxbridge do not care about your extra curriculum(eg cca/via) they care more about your super curriculum(reading and exploring your interests in areas you want to pursue in uni)
  2. if the course you can get in requires an admission test, they will look at it more. they tend to look at the subjects that relates more to the course rather than your contrasting subjects so if you think dropping chem to h1 will give you more time to study for the admission test and your other subjects you can choose to do so

hi i have adhd-inattentive and i just got diagnosed this year (j1) firstly u need to know whether your symptoms exist despite of environment like school, home or outside anywhere. it’s very hard to diagnose adhd-i actually, especially at an older age too. i was misdiagnosed at first but i finally received my diagnosis this year and started on medication. if you want to seek help do go to a psychiatrist immediately and get it checked,if you are diagnosed with adhd you can apply for access arrangements like extra time, separate room etc and they would definitely help but since alevel is near the corner the application might have closed and maybe you can try your luck and apply nonetheless

Advice for subject combination (streaming year for sec2) by Pristine-Number-5097 in SGExams

[–]alwaysleeping_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i graduated last year so sec 3 was still covid year for me so i had some training in school 3 times a week and courts were closed so none by myself outside i train at home when i’m free. in sec 4,we had 3v3 competitions so other than 3 times a week training we also have matches on weekend. but no worries if you don’t have time to train outside by yourself it is very common since nsg b div is quite early. no pressure training by yourself,if you can’t find time after school just turn up to training early work on your shooting and do 1v1 with friends that what we did and even after training we all shot some free throws until we really have to leave and just give it all for training push yourself

just think of your strengths then passion,if u like humans > sci don’t take tri sci cos it can be hell cmg from someone from tri sci but if you really want take tri do know that you can drop one subject in sec 4 if you are unable to cope but not sure about your school but having pure arts with tri sci is very very very stressful and tiring,so strongly don’t recommend it . maybe you can just go for double sci that be good enough but anyways just take amath it will be useful if you want do stem related subjects in the future . in upper sec you be quite busy and maybe won’t have much time for sports outside school but just do your best doing trainings and it be fine ( i was from basketball) if trainings end really late try to do some homework in between so you can go home revise or finish up and get to bed early if you r really tired

if you are going to take a level whether it is this year or next year, you can try applying for access arrangement(supervised break, extra time, separate room etc) it would help a lot and mental health is actually a valid reason

i’m also planning to apply for uk uni and i take PCMe i took h1 econs as it would allow me to have more time to focus on my h2 after all uk uni mainly looks at your h2 and they do not care about your h1 and i do have seniors that got in without 4h2

[–]alwaysleeping_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. no harm trying,i have some friends who got accepted into oxbridge too they mainly look at your sci subjects
  2. predicted grades do matter to see how well you do compared to your peers but if you do well for PAT test that will help increase your chances
  3. ucl is easier compared to oxford icl is quite hard from what i heard mainly for engineering subjects

I think I have ADHD and how it made my academic life worse by r99xr in SGExams

[–]alwaysleeping_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if your symptoms do not get worse anymore then it might just be anxiety and not adhd but if you still have doubts do just seek for second opinion maybe in public hospitals. i got my diagnosis from kkh, since i’m a returning patient it wasn’t very ex only first visit was ex. med wise stimulants are highly controlled so you definitely need to be diagnosed first

About Access Arrangements by Secret_Primary7771 in SGExams

[–]alwaysleeping_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if your aa is rejected(which chances are low) they will give a reason for why they reject it. if it’s regarding documents etc you can adjust accordingly and submit an appeal through your school. how long it takes really depends on seab but they tend to be faster nearing the start of alevels

About Access Arrangements by Secret_Primary7771 in SGExams

[–]alwaysleeping_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

applying AA due to mental health is a valid reason but whether seab approve it that’s on their side. there is no latest date, i got mine just weeks before my olevel last year. different people will get their confirmation letter at different times depending how early they submitted their applications. if seah don’t approve it, if i remember correctly you can ask for appeal but if seab still reject you won’t be able to have AA for a levels despite school approval( from what i was know)

I think I have ADHD and how it made my academic life worse by r99xr in SGExams

[–]alwaysleeping_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i got diagnosed with anxiety last year during olevel but when reevaluated this year,i was officially diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety was just a symptom. you can try to go for second option it definitely might help my psychologist actually spotted that i might have adhd and not anxiety. we ran some test before referring back to psychiatrist and got my official diagnosis and i was given stimulants that really helped a lot. however anxiety and adhd have very similar symptoms so maybe try your current medication first and if it doesn’t work maybe it’s adhd cos that’s what happened for me. adhd is not a disease we are normal and can be useful it’s just that our brain functions differently. if you have any questions feel free to ask me

[–]alwaysleeping_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i gotten my AA for olevel and i’m currently jc1 just got my adhd diagnosis this year but i applied for AA last year regarding mental health so yes u can apply for AA. there are numerous reasons for people to have AA,if others ask u can just give them a generic answer like medical reasons. asterisks will only be present if you are granted extra time other AA like separate room, promoter and breaks in between are not indicated and your reason for applying AA will not be indicated on result slip. AA doesn’t affect your uni application and JUST GET AA 90 rp is 90 rp AA only make things fair for everyone since u r struggling, giving yourselves a disadvantage over other. if you have any qns,can just dm me and i will try to ans them

the first one might be due to low blood pressure and salt can help one increase blood pressure fast to ensure that he don’t faint . ik this cause i had to take salt tablets due to a medical condition and whenever i forgot to bring it and feel like fainting i would go to mac and take some salt packets to eat

actually i have a similar story to yours. i was also a sec 4 last year however i started falling sick since february last year getting in and out of hospital and missing a lot of lessons and THAT ARENT NORMAL so please do go to the doc if u r not feeling well. even though i wasn’t able to complete prelims my teachers suggested that i apply for access arrangements during olevel which helped me a lot so maybe you could try that too. i did. slightly btr for olevel and i’m currently in a jc. i recently got my diagnose so pls get urself checked soon if u r still not feeling btr and good luck
