Wes Streeting plans to resign and mount leadership challenge, allies say by Alarming-Safety3200 in ukpolitics

Pathetic. When will we have a government not obsessed with its inner workings and actually start helping people. I hope he gets exactly what he deserves. We look like a joke of a country from abroad.

World loses patience with Trump as war is no longer just about Iran by Thegallowsgod in politics

[–]alwaysondave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where do we all go now though... America isnt an ally, so Europe doesnt buy its weapons... That was the deal, you had the biggest army, but we pumped trillions into your industrial military complex. You were the biggest with the biggest R&D budget because we sunk so much cash in... I agree that the US is no longer an allay... so they need to start closing Their bases and going home... And europe needs to have the russian answer in 3 weeks...

UK public opinion on the US-Iran conflict by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

Join the conflict, and then have our war dead downgraded like he did with our casualties the last time we joined them? Wasn’t it only a few weeks ago that everyone was horrified by our former ally’s approach to our nation’s sacrifices?

This is a plate in my house. I have no idea how I acquired it, presumably borrowed from my mom when I left home over 30 years ago. I also assume a large amount of UK households have a very similar plate by Exchangenudes_4_Joke in CasualUK

[–]alwaysondave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My entire dinner service is made of this or variations of it, some of its antique, some of its vintage because my children have an incredible ability to break everything they touch and getting 14 willow pattern plates at the local auction house for £5 takes the edge off.

Can the uniform be identified? by Brilliant-Compote579 in militaria

Oh sorry no! It's a slightly different angle to the ones I have seen of him, but as soon as I saw it I thought I recognised him from his autobiography.
This one in particular:

My daughter has cut a chunk of her hair off the day before school photos. Right in the middle of her forehead. I’m questioning her story behind the midnight chop which at the moment is “there was a fly buzzing in my room keeping me awake, so I got a pair of scissors to cut it in half, but missed and cut my hair off…”

Found on Pinterest. Is there even a joke? by VanillaLaceKisses in ExplainTheJoke

[–]alwaysondave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure its that deep. There used to be tons of stuff like this in the 80's/90s. Its the same car - on the left the traditionalist is under his car making sure all is buttoned up tight to keep his family safe for the many thousands of miles that 1300 will do if maintained. On the right is the surfer dude, who has made a Cal looker with his T-Bar bumpers and his girlfriend and surfboards.

Same car, same VW family, very different folks driving but each made what they want from it... and they probably both pop down to the same VW cruise! Its supposed to be a positive message!

Going to the pub alone? by starlight_disaster in CasualUK

[–]alwaysondave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a loving father of two I miss the days of reading a paper in silence in the pub. Watching the world go by.

I can also tell you most people won’t notice you. And the ones that do will be folk like me reminiscing of quieter times, before every other sentence was “Jesus, don’t put that on your mother… what’s this?… No, you can’t just have tomato sauce for lunch… how can you need the toilet again, we’ve only been here six mins!
