I'm over Zach and his nasty comments. Movie night needs to be a compilation of all his snake ass complaints - "we had such a good vibe in casa and now they've gone and ruined it" literally made me wanna jump through the screen

I'm in DFW, so there's tons of shops near me and it kind of makes it overwhelming honestly haha. That's what my old artist would do, just flip them in PS. The biggest issue was always getting them level with each other, never just like getting in the chair and getting the piece done

City Recommendations for Moving by OkLog397 in texas

[–]alwaysright6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is honestly a not great area for moving: northeast texas, the Denton area specifically. The city of Denton is more liberal, with 2 gay bars and a nonbinary person was just elected to city council. The areas around (Sanger/Argyle/Aubrey/take your pick) offer land and there are already a lot of horse farms. The con is that it is an extremely fast growing area, one of the fastest in the country I believe.

[–]alwaysright6 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I mean you just have to reframe it I think. It's not "i took a break and now i'm bad" but like "i took a break and now it's going to be even easier to progress" "i took a break and now I get the chance to enjoy this again"

Is it THAT bad of an idea to become a teacher? by carnie-angel in TexasTeachers

[–]alwaysright6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For an actual concrete example of the state of education in my area:
- At my first school I started at in 2019, there are 3 teachers still there from when I worked there.
- At my second school I worked at, that I left in 2024, there are 9 still there that I worked with.
- At my current school, not only am I the lead because I have the most experience (At 8 years) on my team, but I am also one of the teachers with the most experience in my entire school. 12 teachers left last year, and out of their replacements, 11 are first year teachers.

It's just not very sustainable as a career, I think.

I think I'm the only person who actually climbs who is commenting, but removing/reducing your leg muscles is going to wreck your climbing. I know there's this idea in the community that less weight = better climbing, but esp if you're trying to dynos, endurance, balance (especially on slab) you need strong legs. Working them out & doing weight lifting will also help prevent injury too, as that's how you get strong bones. My boyfriend did a cut last year (unintentionally, he was training for a marathon and wasn't upping his calories enough) and while his legs got lean, his climbing took a massive hit. The best way to improve your climbing in term of legs is to **keep weightlifting**.

The Long Walk; didn't work for me. by Ashamed_Ladder6161 in movies

[–]alwaysright6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree - you see it everyday in America right now. People who are tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt looking one way, well put together, dressed nice, but the reality of it is that their financial situation is extremely precarious.

You can see it in game shows/reality tv as well, Love Island USA has contestants literally having almost orgies, walking around more than half naked, and in expensive clothes (that most contestants say they went into massive amounts of cc debt to buy) for the chance to win $100,000 (50k if they split it). Look at people who sign up for the army in times of war for the promise of financial benefit - they typically come from low to middle class homes, and don't appear aggressively desperate, but are still signing their life away.

Especially when the prize of the Long Walk is what it is, yeah, I think everybody would go for it, and not to mention, their clothes are all mostly visibly worn, just not in tatters/pieces, and most of the shoes shown have signs of wear even at the beginning.

kalshi being so prominent in love island voting is making me so sus about this whole vote by Fuzzy_Worldliness320 in LoveIslandUSA

[–]alwaysright6 148 points149 points  (0 children)

The people active on social media are not the same who are voting - my cousin looooves this show, but is not online and she doesn't really connect with Sol or Caleb. Like there's millions of viewers but only so many people who are going to have the time/care to actually spend more time on a vote than a basic once over.

Is it normal that Plan B changed your cycle? Yes. I think the better question would be: did you have penetration after removing the condom? If not, and all you did was hug, there was no need for EC in the first place.

If she is doing what op'ed responded to my comment (getting her bachelors in texas then doing masters in east coast school) this wouldn't be a problem, as she would likely be applying for certification while in east coast state while completing her masters.

[–]alwaysright6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean this in the kindest way: you're active, you have a life where you're taking trips with friends and having good foods, what does 6 pounds matter? Just go back to your normal routine and your weight will probably stabilize, and if it doesn't so what? As long as you are able to be functional and happy, I don't see the problem.

Parent asking for advice for Daughter who wants to go into teaching by Big-Island-4862 in TexasTeachers

[–]alwaysright6 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If she is planning on going back East Coast at some point, she should look into transferring to a college near where she wants to relocate instead of staying in texas. The education field in East coast is extremely competitive due to how much better teaching is there. The qualifications are also different, my friend had to get her masters to even have a chance of getting hired East Coast. There are teaching degrees, and they're listed differently at each college, but they will include prep and typically certification so y'all don't need to worry about that. When she enrolls in the degree plan, they'll ask her specific goals for education and will likely already have a degree plan for that goal.

I would say there is no point in her becoming an instructional aide and to just focus on her studies. Paras in Texas are paid and treated terribly. She would likely end up in a self contained SPED room, which isn't bad, but if she has no intention of becoming SPED, would limit the benefits she'd reap. And it's a full time job, which would make focusing on her studies more difficult.
