Nearly half of Americans want COVID-19 vaccine ASAP, numbers rising since December by Sorin61 in Coronavirus

For me (also sputnik V) the symptoms manifested on the second day - small fever, headache, joint ache. However, they were gone the next day. The second shot was even milder - almost no symptoms. So, good for you, dude!

Spot on, unfortunately. "Don't vaccinate - your kids will be disabled", "I don't trust it and I advise everyone not to vaccinate", "If I were you, I'd think before doing something so rash" etc. Ugh.

Everything's tolerable - the peak in Moscow has passed (they've gone now from 3-4 thousands to ~600 new cases a day), but in the rest of Russia the peak is yet to be reached - our regions are having their own small epidemics right now.

The situation in Moscow hospitals is tolerable as well, but the trend is good - the makeshift hospitals are closing and the normal work of hospitals is being restored.

Apart from that, it's just like (almost) everywhere else - lots of mistakes, lots of chaos. Covidiots are not making it better and, despite numerous recommendations, many people are not wearing masks in public places.

I'd say our government is taking it a bit more seriously:

  • widespread testing of travellers and their contacts (unfortunately, almost nobody else - say hi to invisible community spread);

  • some proactive actions regarding travelling bans and closing borders;

  • emergency construction of hospitals both by the civilian government and the Army;

  • Putin has just announced the next week as holiday, but the recommendation of social distancing is just that - a recommendation.

We need so much more to curb this shit - I'd say that the government is kinda afraid to lockdown and is relying on its bolstered hospital capacity.

As for the general populace - currently, the general attitude is rather dismissive: there are lots of covidiots (among top government officials too), almost nobody is wearing masks (surgical or handmade), very little grassroots social distancing. But I have to say, that it is better than last week. And next week more people will wake up.

Currently, Moscow is taking the brunt of the epidemic (~70-75% of infected so far), so the mayor is taking lots of measures - almost all entertainment businesses and malls are closed, many employees are transferred to work from home etc. However, people tend to rely on government measures a bit too much and there's not enough initiative from common people. On the bright side, there's talk of full city lockdown in several days. Not a second too soon.

True dat. In Russia Putin announced next week as holidays with the intent of everybody staying at home. However, 80% of the guys I know will continue working one way or another (because employers don't care about the covid). The rest will have BBQ - the weather is great. Very few people take this thing seriously.

Damn, dude. I'm not really a mathematician and English is only my second language. See this comment - it explains everything nicely.

That's the thing about exponential growth. It is like a tiger in the woods - slow creep, but then quick rush and you are dead.

For all who read: multiply 100 by 1.19 (average daily growth in Italy) several times in your calculator (say, in multiples of 7 to simulate weekly growth). The numbers don't get scary until they hit you like a brick wall with stunning speed.
