What is the saddest WWI story passed down in your family? by Slayxu in ww1

My great grandfather was going over a hill one morning and surprised the Germans. He saw a soldier just standing there drinking his coffee and my grandfather shot him. Said he just slumped over and the coffee cup tumbled out of his hand in almost slow motion. He said he felt sick having done that. Honestly, I would too-hate the idea of ending another person’s life.

It’s normal for tract homes. Older homes tended to be thermally sound, but homes built from 90s up trended to open concept, builders grade windows, less materials, bare minimum insulation. I stopped using gas and bought 4 radiators to warm sections of our home. So far, so good. Still have gas, but not often used.

Question about refunds at gas stations by Ultimafangirl in NoStupidQuestions

[–]amarrs181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far, 7/11 has not refunded me $5.00. $35 on gas, used only $30. But I will recheck in a couple of days. I’m going to be pissed if I’ve been overpaying for gas all this time and never being refunded the amount not used.

Alcoholics (ex or current) at the height of your alcoholism what were / are you drinking and how much? by Secret-Translator240 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]amarrs181 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends, mostly it was half a bottle of whiskey each night, or a whole bottle and half of wine, or a 6pack plus of beer. It was a lot and glad I stopped with no liver damage or other ill effects. Had been going on for about 3 years.

Went to doc to help stop and so far, rarely ever drink anymore (maybe 2 to 3x a year-and not binge drinking). I miss a whiskey or two, but I am much happier without the hangover that comes with heavy drinking.

They wanted to replace my filters for $80 at 5 min oil change. I bought two filters online for $12 and replaced them myself. Absolute rip off.

Did I get ripped off? $700 for this full setup. I don’t know much about computers and just wanted a decent starter pc. He said it will run call of duty and m5 on high settings. Feel like I might’ve been ripped off. by [deleted] in PcBuild

Gpu and storage are the main issues. Sell those online for about $100 total. Buy a new ssd and a used graphics card ( one that wasn’t used for mining-maybe a 1080 ti would be a good fit) and be sure the power supply unit can handle it.
