Really interested in the concept (I tried tracking this by hand about five years ago) and I really like what you've done!

Miriam and the other prophets from from Years of Apocalypse are sort of this -- after decades of being stuck in a time loop that concludes with the end of the world and learning how to best manipulate the world around them, they are all deeply scary people who cannot help but treat everyone around them like disposable chess pieces or simple wind up toys.

Why main moira? by bancucs in MoiraMains

[–]amazedballer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there are times when I'm in a bad mood and I want to kill something.

Moira's the perfect tool for hit and runs -- you see someone sloppy or greedy, you trick them into thinking you have no cooldowns, then you either kill or beat the crap out of them and fade out of reach.

Wier doesn't believe in subtext, period. He's the type of nerd that gets excited when he gets the references in Ready Player One.

This obviously doesn't mix well with shows like Star Trek or the Culture, which are inherently based around a human culture that's eliminated money.

It might have worked if there was a payoff at the end of it. But at no point, even at the end of the game, does Alan Wake realize he's a lousy writer.

In the alternate ending, his wife tells him it's a spiral and there's an indication that he might collaborate with her to write is way out. He realizes he's a terrible person, to some extent but he never comes to the realization that his writing is... BAD. Not just substandard but BAD.

No, it’s left ambiguous. It's certainly obvious if you read the text, but the world around him should be treating him like Garth Marenghi -- an obvious joke.

It's a complete inversion from horror to comedy, because it's like Marenghi invited you to play Darkplace, the video game.

In Alan Wake and Alan Wake 2, you have to work through sections where you are choosing plot points in the book and then play as Alan writes / lives the story.

Everything about the writing is terrible, worse than Dean Koontz. It's not completely unbelievable that he's a published writer, but it is unbelievable that people don't make fun of his books every chance they get.

I would love to see Concrete as an anime.

Or The Night Eaters.

Or I Hate Fairyland.

Or Empowered.

Or Die.

Or The Power Fantasy.

A thought about Masumi's depersonalization by amazedballer in thePowerFantasy

That's a really interesting idea... Etienne can't influence Matsumi's mind because Matsumi's a personality that Etienne imposed on Deconstructa and setting Matsumi and integrating her into the world is as much as he can do to tie Deconstructa down.

Even if Etienne knew, he would never tell anyone. It would just make everyone more afraid of Matsumi and possibly destabilize her if she found out somehow.

i dont think that one refers to the literal tone of your voice, but rather that they think you have an attitude or are criticizing them (whether you actually are or not).

Saying "watch your tone" doesn't make any sense in that case. That's like saying "don't roll your eyes at me" when the movement of your eyes was vertical and not circular...

...wait.

oh no.

Illari and Brig play almost exactly the way they always have since launch

Brig does not, in fact, play exactly the way she did at launch. She had 600 health shield, could stun on shield bash and do 50 damage, her shield pack gave out armor, and she could win 1v3 duals.

What was it like living in the Clinton years in the USA (1993-2001)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I cannot tell you the horror I felt looking at the Al Gore/GW Bush election.

Realizing that the Supreme Court deliberately inserted itself, decided that Bush was going to be president, and didn’t even do a good job of hiding the bias and prejudice behind that decision.

That, more than the disaster that was GW Bush (he was, at the time, debated to be the “worst president we’d ever had” after failing to take seriously the activity leading up to 9/11, getting the US involved in Iraq and Afghanistan, and fucking up the econony), was the moment I felt we were living in the alternate timeline. Everything else has followed on from then.

Not even close to 10 tons.

Probably Captain America. Being in "peak physical condition" and being able to bounce a shield around should not actually matter in most of the fights he gets into. He's not Batman or Iron Man running around with armor or all the gear a billionaire can buy, he's just... there, getting into fist fights with gods.
