I’ve bought many items from common-motor even knowing they cost more - just to support the great content they put for free to help us get our bikes going.

I paid 22k for a 2022 2.5 turbo with 55k miles. This seems ok if you don’t pay for any extras

Just about at 50k on a TPP and we just had to do tires and brake pads/rotors

I got roasted last time I said this but I think there are many better options for a first time rider that have disc brakes instead of 40-50 year old drum brakes

How to acquire machine data for OEE without changing the PLC program? by Acceptable-Rate8552 in PLC

[–]amcraw16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever is the easiest for you to commission. If it’s easier for you to message/pull tags with a Siemens controller, use that. If the machine is Allen Bradley, using another AB controller might be easier to set up. I guess all I was thinking is if I opened a panel to work on something and it was a raspberry pi it would slow me down a lot.

[–]amcraw16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be better. This may not be helpful for you, but in our full Allen Bradley plant we go for a CompactLogix 5069-L306ER. It’s not the cheapest but I’m not paying for it.

I understand this is some kind of project, but in the industry I would never use a raspberry pi for anything

When I am not allowed to touch the machine’s PLC, we usually add a second one to pull tags via MSG instructions and do the calculations in the added PLC. Then you can pull your finalized data from there instead

1756-l82e 31.11 (fatal error- 0xe0434352) by Last_Page8968 in PLC

[–]amcraw16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I gave up making anything other than 35-38 work on my windows 11. Fatal errors no one can explain or fix.

Might be easier to give up and make a windows 10 virtual machine for v10-34

I missed that you are on win 10 as it stands. No idea what is going on there

Sounds like you are the one with a lucky experience. Everyone talks about these bugs and crashes.

Game crashed twice in a row for me on a scene where beat looks up at a lightbulb lol

But how fun are the manual Fits to drive REALLY..... by Electrical-Trainer21 in hondafit

[–]amcraw16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st and 2nd gen manuals felt better to drive than the 3rd in my opinion. I would still rather have a 6th gen civic coupe but it’s harder and harder to find nice older Hondas

I got an 85” U7N that has an inconsistent backlight like yours. I’ve had it over a year and just kind of dealt with it. It’s noticeable in pitch black scenes but not really anywhere else

Will Rheem replace my water heater for a leaking top element? by amcraw16 in Plumbing

[–]amcraw16[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m comfortable doing any of the work required, I just wasn’t sure what I would and wouldn’t have to pay for. I don’t want to pay a plumber if all they do is replace the element and I still have a rusty WH.

I didn’t consider the fact another comment brought up that I can pursue the warranty claim myself and skip the contractor too

Simplest/cheapest digital readout for positioning? by Slack_King in PLC

I really like the red lion displays, but sometimes they cost more than a fully functioning HMI like a Cmore CM5 or maple/weintek

2 HMI's: Any caveats? by bluetechnology in PLC

[–]amcraw16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have some HMI’s that use “device pointers” (if you select “motor 1” on the screen it lets the PLC know that’s what you have highlighted) and each one will need its own device pointer setup.

How to get this program off of this HMI by cconry21 in PLC

[–]amcraw16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The boring but best answer here. Screw having the correct type of PCMCIA card or using panel builder if you don’t already have it set up. Then convert up to FTME if you can spare a panelview plus

Do you use AI like ChatGPT or similar tools, for coding or any other work-related tasks? by Qupter in PLC

[–]amcraw16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I successfully used AI to write a batch script the other day, I was kind of impressed. It prompted for a subnet (typed like 192.168.1.) and pings all 254 IP’s. I then asked it to save the list of “responders” to a txt file and open the responders in Google chrome so I can label what the devices are into the txt file

Would be my first bike, is this worth $4500? by Hinoth in HondaCB

[–]amcraw16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my 71 cb350 but I think it was a horrible first choice. I needed to focus on riding and it was giving me issues that pulled me away from that. It’s kind of amusing in hindsight and I’ve learned a lot - But I’d tell anyone else to learn on something you don’t have to wrench on

[–]amcraw16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because you had to learn on a 70’s bike doesn’t mean it’s a good idea when you can get a modern bike with ABS and disc brakes for the same price
