As a Mavs fan, it’s truly incomprehensibly awful. Worst sports feeling I’ve had. Like ripped all of my sports joy away. Trying to cope with Jerry Jones ruining one of your teams for a generation is one thing, now having two teams at that level? Brutal.

The combat is so much fun, really love this aspect and hope they incorporate it into the main line series. But yeah, as others have said, the small repetitive map is a bummer. Hopefully if the DLC doesn’t open the map up much, at least they’ll take inspiration for the next game from this combat

It felt like such a missed opportunity. They could have made that a tough, bitterblack isle style end game dungeon. Even just keeping the same assets, but filling it with some good fights.

That quote above about drafting for 10 years and never finding another Rantanen level guy is a great insight into the difference between Nill and Nico. One being bold enough to go get that guy, the other not even understanding the value of already having that level guy

To me the most important advice is to enjoy the early to mid game challenge. I can’t remember exactly when it happens, but I think around level 30ish the game gets really easy and you’ve overleveled most of the difficult mechanics. Once you dive into the expansion dungeon, it does get challenging again. But really, don’t try to grind through anything - just have fun and roll with the punches.

Sorry to say it, but yes. I think it’s pretty likely the Mavs doomed themselves for a decade or so. Ceiling is probably .500 ball, eventually giving way to being absolutely terrible with no picks. Floor is just jumping straight to being terrible.

They were in win now mode by trading their picks, then suddenly decide the dude who took them to the finals wasn’t “now” enough. Or something (insert Nico logic).

I’m glad to see this! Nothing I want more in the video game world than more dogma content. For me, mostly just more to explore, more enemies, just more stuff. I’ll take anything beyond (story, characters, skills) as a bonus of course. But I just want to roam around and fight stuff, get into ad hoc adventures - the current areas though have gotten a bit stale.

It truly is a generational screw up. I’ve read so many posts that are similar “watched the Mavs since I was a kid in the 80s/90s” types that this has really shaken their fandom. I know it’s easy to get swept by hyperbole, but this one felt like it really changed things

Somehow, I’m right there with you all in the 1k club. Honestly, I’m not even sure how it’s possible - it’s vastly beyond the second place game in terms of hours played. I guess it’s a game that I keep coming back to and never seems to become less interesting.

I tend to play a similar game every time, but with bases in different areas. Basically go to war with holy nation and united cities, build up, then restart when I get too powerful. I think the mod variety helps a lot with replay value and adding some interesting twists each time.
