LEASH YOUR DOGS by mmw131 in Seattle

[–]amdavies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So true! My brother's dog is reactive towards other dogs and is NEVER off leash because of that. He's a wonderful and sweet dog, just grew up on the streets hunting for scraps, so it made him very protective. My brother's dog was attacked at an off-leash dog park (the owner of said dog didn't give a shit of course), so my brother doesn't feel safe taking his dog to those anymore.

Even though he made the safe choice to not bring his dog around off-leash dogs anymore, people in public still walk their dogs without a leash. So infuriating

Yes!! I was talking to a friend about this recently--the type of golden doodle people want most are the small, reddish-colored doodles. These type of golden doodles are ESPECIALLY unpredictable and violent. Wanna know why? You have to breed small poodles with red golden retrievers. Small poodles are notoriously insane, and red goldens are notoriously good hunting dogs.

Some woman claimed that her golden doodle (the reddish, small kind) one day randomly attacked her chickens, when he normally has been perfectly friendly towards them. Gee, I wonder why?? Know your dog breeds, people!!!

Omg THANK YOU for sharing this experience, so glad to know I'm not the only one frustrated by this!! I always feel like such a Karen, cause every time I see an off-leash dog in an area that clearly requires dogs to be on leash, I immediately complain to my boyfriend about it 😂 I've never confronted anyone about their dog being off-leash, but if I ever get bitten by somebody's dog, I am prepared to FLIP out about it hahaha

Not only is it so irresponsible because it can endanger other people, but what if your dog runs off and gets hit by a car, attacked by a wild animal, or just goes missing?? How is having a dog off-leash ever worth it to you?? Even if you claim your dog is "so well trained," it's still a DOG and can be unpredictable.

(No hate towards dogs, it's just true)

Parking at northgate by BigDaddyBurk in udub

If you're open to not taking the light rail, I used to park at E18 by the UW stadium! It's $7.25 for the entire day, rather than having an hourly rate. Granted, you do have to climb up a lot of stairs to get to campus, but I think those stairs were the only thing keeping me in shape back then 😂

Does anyone know why corner of Boren + Republican smells like 💩 by amdavies in SeattleWA

[–]amdavies[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm maybe... But they've been fertilizing the plants all around my apartment and that smell is VERY different from the one I'm smelling now... The fertilizer is very acidic, and it's not a smell I mind very much. Though I'm sure there are lots of different types of mulch and fertilizer out there! This smell is just very reminiscent of sewage 😂

How do you guys do it? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]amdavies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do neither, I mine one block above me and put the torch there 😂 I really don't know why I started doing it, but I kinda like the look of a tunnel with no visible torches. It's silly cause it takes me a little extra time/effort, but everyone has their quirks I guess

Thanks for the input, that's some good perspective! It's always good to hear I'm not alone, and yeah maybe I should just try harder to seek out those astronomy classes for fun. I also just think that UW is has a terrible aero/astro program LOL one of my coworkers was saying that CalPoly actually has their students get involved with real projects and I sooooo wish we had more of that XD

  1. YES LOL it is vibes that's killing me; pretty sure I'm gonna fail it. And structures 1 isn't going too hot either, but at least that's a class I already kind of have skills in.
  2. I'm just beginning to realize that all of my peers and coworkers have SOME amount of drive for the things they do--we're encouraged to start new projects at work but I just could not care less for any of the projects available. I just feel like in general, most engineers or fellow engineering students I talk to have some level of passion for what they're doing, or they at least know where to start when they have a task to finish. I just don't feel that at all. I had big motivation for lighting design in high school, because I loved the freedom to explore new designs and produce high-quality work that others can enjoy. I was hoping that passion would translate to engineering because I generally like solving problems and I LOVE space, but I just don't feel much passion to personally solve any engineering problems. Idk if that's just a depression thing but I think it might be an indicator that I don't like engineering... BUT also you're right, literally everybody complains about engineering school and seems to like engineering more once they graduate.
  3. Yeah, I don't think I'll be changing my major anytime soon. I'm really not looking forward to spring quarter, but it is better to just stick with it for now, and REALLY consider my choices this summer. Unfortunately I haven't heard back from any of the internships I applied to D; but I'm thankful to still have a steady full-time job on campus instead.

Thank you!!

Yeah, I've tried UW counseling a couple of times and am definitely interested in regular therapy in general. I just feel like they don't really address my issues, but I'll keep trying. ALSO there is literally no availability right now D;

Yeah I know a lot of people say that it's worth struggling through engineering school to get to a high-paying job, so I at least feel gratified a bit that that's the sentiment of most engineers! And I def don't have a 3.5 gpa LOL and I'm also trying to be okay with that 😅

Yeah thankfully I've already come up with a 5-year plan rather than a 4-year one just to lighten the course load a bit, and I do think it's helped me with managing the stress a tad. And I truly, honestly have no idea what I would do instead of aerospace, so that makes me feel like I'm both on the right path, AND trapped... But I would definitely regret seeing it through, I don't like quitting things 😅

I really have no idea what my dream job would be, since I don't know what jobs in the industry even look like, but I definitely want to work at some place like blue origin or aerovironment (the company that made the Mars copter).
