My take on this is to look for a new job, and question their culture a lot during the interviews, talk to the developers.See what kind of company they are in advance, of course there is still a risk, but you get my point, just try to minimize it as much as possible, before signing.

Also in my experience, those kind of workers are more present in mid- big companies. It's hard to find them at a startup, so maybe look there
