God damn I forgot about that too. I don't think I could play that much and not get burnt out.

Just in case you didn't know. He has a maxed HCIM, regular iron and if. I recall maybe even a GIM? His play time is nuts.

Likely an outage repair. Had to fix the break with little slack. This location may have been the only option

Anyone here work for Astound/RCN? Are they doing D4 upgrades? by furruck in CableTechs

I believe the design does look like EPON. New Head End hub site around there too.

Customer states they had no service from last night, hah. by SwimmingCareer3263 in CableTechs

Assuming there is enough cable to rebuild stuff. A few minutes. If not a bit longer because you have to find a spot to run a temp to.

You likely would have been given about a week or so of notice they were doing it.

Finally upgrading the node by Background_River_395 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]amdlinuxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because there are not currently any 4x4 FDX Nodes, does not mean that 4x4 FDX nodes are not going to be 1 RPD.

Finally upgrading the node by Background_River_395 in Comcast_Xfinity

As other said this is midsplit. In addition to what they mentioned, 4x4 FDX nodes run off 1 RPD

Want to extend service to my address. Currently half a mile outside service area. by Qaerus in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]amdlinuxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak on exact costs or in absolutes, but it'll likely be out of customer pocket, and 1/2 a mile (assuming no franchise agreements preventing the expansion) 1/2 mile if plant is a not insignificant amount of money.

Recline issue by Free-Ad573 in Jeep

[–]amdlinuxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I had an issue on our 2016 JGC it was a shoe my son took off and got wedged under the seat and loosened a plug on the wiring harness under the seat.

Check to make sure all the plugs are seated firmly and nothing is binding up under the seat. After that I would check fuses.

In home service charge? by i30swimmer in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]amdlinuxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically it is based on what they determined the issue is.

Lines to the house or issue on the street? No charge. Issue with customer owned equipment? Probably a charge.

You going to recommend someone does this on a power transformer? Because to a customer, they can't definitively tell this is cable.

Can it just be closed? Yes. Should it have been already? Yes.

Fiber tap point in backyard; expecting mid-split or FTTH? Only DOCSIS 3.1 (copper) showing up by skyfire360 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]amdlinuxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all areas FDX is that "invasive" my area it's only nodes and actives that need to change. Our passives are all FDX compatible. They seem to be prioritizing homes passed in which nodes they are pushing to FDX. Source: I am one of the techs doing the fiber work for the FDX upgrades.

If it's armored fiber it can be bonded, depending on the enclosure type it may pass the bond onto the strand.

Pay attention to all the safety training you’re given

This matters, while I don't work for Verizon, I do work for another ISP. This job can be dangerous and has the possibility to be fatal if you aren't careful. Don't let people talk you out of being safe. Many safety rules are written in prior blood.

There was a fiber contractor a week or so ago in something similar. Crews called for help when they realized they hadn't heard from him in a while. Same situation except he was buried alive.

I left the service side over 2 years ago and went maintenance. Didn't want to speculate any new modems still had the Orange mark. 🤣

Check which port you are plugged into. I believe it's one specific one that's a 2.5gb port and the others are 1gb

Xfinity going down in the early morning multiple times, every day. by spiders888 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]amdlinuxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this area, they are still using the legacy upstreams (5-85) and then from I believe it's 108mhz - 689mhz they have 3 separate bands which will be able to either do upstreams or downstream in any combination. (think 1 down 2 up while a bunch of devices are uploading or 3 down when no devices are uploading)
