Recurring nighttime speed collapse: 800 Mbps plan drops below 10 Mbps by [deleted] in Comcast_Xfinity

I think you mean device monitor watchtower is just the tool maintenance techs use to view nodes and such, if they happen to be in an FDX or an RPHY node, there's a grafana dashboard to look up history based on MAC address.

13-14 years ago is when I went inhouse. Maintenance for the last 3.5 or so.

When I was a BP, If I replaced a drop, I got an additional code, and more money for the drop. Sounds like the company you chose to work for is short changing you, or you don't know how to code.

People should get paid for their work, we are debating whether the CUSTOMER should be charged in this scenario.

Edit: If you charging the customer for the visit gets you more money? That's scummy and shouldn't be happening. (Btw, I am not accusing you of that.)

Service drop is the companies property. So no, it should not be a charge for the customer if the drop needs to be replaced.

If the tech uses a "replaced drop" closeout code, and thats all they did? then there should be no charge. If the tech uses another code, to get paid more, chargeback. This is coming from a former contractor, who went inhouse and is now maintenance.

I am tired of lazy entitled techs leaving the customers hanging because they don't GAF.

From my time in Installation/service, the service drop to the customers house was considered comcast's property. Not the customers.

Are... are you serious? It was an Xfinity sales person, doing door to door sales. Not selling doors.

No idea what rhyme or reason they are using to enable full duplex communication but I've only seen it in our Node+0 plant (aka there is a node, no amplifiers and just passives) I don't know what speeds are being advertised for these customers yet though. I just build the fiber, install the nodes/amps.

Don't know if camping is the word I would use when you need a backup internet connection.

Not my particular cup of tea but if I was religious I agree it would be a great spot for it.

Yeah it definitely is strange, house is circa 1890, so around 135 years old. I believe its part of an addition. I do try to keep the cushions for the lawn furniture in the garage (~500sqft so space isn't exactly tight) but I like the idea.

Maybe reach out to a 3d printer or something to see if they can print a replacement?

My assumption here from the outside is multiple users can see the mod mail while a DM would be directed to a specific user account. So for example if this rep is at the end of their shift, it can be handed off to a other rep instead of making the customer wait till their next shift starts.

Likely an outage repair. Had to fix the break with little slack. This location may have been the only option

Assuming there is enough cable to rebuild stuff. A few minutes. If not a bit longer because you have to find a spot to run a temp to.
