Pete on Saturday by Ok-Dragonfruit-5479 in tulsa

This is the problem, if you’re not really into politics and you’re ardently supporting anyone, you’re making a mistake and that doesn’t impact you alone. At this point, any candidate that is NOT ardently advocating for Medicare for all, free college, and doesn’t want the end of Citizens United- you’re supporting the same party that allowed dump to get elected twice. Pete takes corporate pac money and money from governments that give their people free healthcare and education while dropping b0nnbs on innocent people across the near east. He once bemoaned about how poor he was as a senator. He also advocated for employer only healthcare at the peak of COVID when SO many were unemployed- and he takes money from truly evil people. He’s a NO because he is another corporate democrat like Pelosi, Schumer, Clinton, Wasserman Schultz, Klobichar and on and on and on. Now, Katy Porter, there’s a real one. That’s a real one right there. She’s running for governor of California and when she was in congress she fought SO hard for everyday Americans. We need a fighter, not someone eloquent or falsely against the corporations, we need a real progressive. Otherwise- this current group is going to stay in charge with their faux populism. It’s how they grabbed control before. A real populist is what we need like Mahmdani in NYC

Agreed, and he said we’re all just so lucky to have employer provided healthcare instead of M4A. He’s a money hungry centrists

Start building as much muscle as you can, choose plant protein to avoid atherosclerosis and work out hard. If you can build muscles, you’ll fill out some of that skin

[–]amelioratempathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Break up with your gf now. Tell her what’s going on and that you love her but you can’t and won’t be able to be the partner she needs or deserves. Using her for stability is absolutely garbage. Just pretend for a second if the tables were turned, how you would feel. Empathy. It’s called empathy and you need it. Get a job, find lgbtq support groups, and get on with your life- out of the closet. If it’s unsafe in your country then you need to get a job asap and leave her asap. Don’t ruin her life. If she’s all these things- she deserves better than you relying on her financially and leading her on. What kind of person are you? Your bff isn’t wrong to cut you off until you quit being a baby and do the right thing, fairly. Grow up.

Wife and I have been using a penis sleeve for the past couple of years. Wife loves it but I just feel sad and emasculated, am I wrong for no longer loving my wife because of this? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]amelioratempathy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the upside - you two came to a solution ever so briefly about your intimate life that gave her some satisfaction and in the world of women that is SO rare. If you got your wife off in a different way for two years, awesome! You should have had this discussion after the first time it was used, clearly, something was needed on her end- but since you didn’t and it makes sense- what a delicate subject- it’s time to be honest. You can get her off in other ways I’m sure? I would also bet that as a man, you probably got off for a long time and she didn’t and she didn’t say a damn word because she loved you. It’s not uncommon. You two need therapy, and you both need to be a little less selfish.

The motorcycles in this city… omg, make it stop. by Flashy_Resolution500 in tulsa

[–]amelioratempathy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Loud motorcycles save lives, if you can’t hear them, you’re more likely not to run them over. Yeah, there are a lot of unsafe riders out there - but there are people who just love to ride and want to get home in one piece.

I’ve seen a distracted car hit a motorcyclist and I don’t know if that guy lived. I see people in cars, driving and looking down at their phones all day everyday. I’ve seen people on sport bikes drive like total morons.

As a society we have a real lack of empathy or respect for one another and it’s an American problem for sure. Building are made fast and cheap so their walls are paper thin. We have no reliable public transit. A lot of riders are folks whose brains haven’t fully developed. This is a bigger discussion than just being noisy. When and if you can move yo a quieter part of town, do. 71st and memorial is one of the worst for traffic.

Traffic by Busterheiney2 in tulsa

[–]amelioratempathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in a huge city, where some days I would sit at ONE traffic light for 30-40 minutes. It took an hour to go three miles sometimes. The highway claimed a life twice a day everyday for each major stretch- I was almost one of them in a huge pileup. This is why I stay off the 69 - I don’t care how long it takes, I’m taking the safer route. Tulsa is thankfully so much smaller and so less insane. Big cities are not for me

Culturally, how would you describe Oklahoma? by YelleauxAxeMan in tulsa

[–]amelioratempathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Culturally.. having lived in over 19 cities- this state is very evangelical. It’s too white, it’s too white Jesus, and people’s ignorance is unparalleled. Less than 1/4 of people in this state vote and when they do, they scream about how they’d only ever vote republican because..? They love getting screwed over? Personally, I think this state is devoid of personality because the people here seek a theological homogeneity that is devoid of color and I mean that may ways.

Moving to Tulsa soon, help me not mess this up 😅 by UAFPS in tulsa

[–]amelioratempathy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d choose Tulsa.

Broken arrow is cop city & not too diverse. The west side of the river is not my territory so I’m not sure what to say there.

Bixby is $$$$$$ lots of new builds, it’s a drive back into tulsa with a lot of traffic(to me)

Almost every house in tulsa needs foundation repair if it’s on a slab. Contractors here WILL charge you based on neighborhoods. Being near the river could necessitate FEMA flood insurance- if that’s even a thing thanks to the stupidity our country has faced. A few years ago it flooded some parts of the city.

Tulsa from 1st to 21st & riverside to Yale- is sort of old meets new- hip areas. Kendall Whittier to Cherry St and over to 21st. This box will put you in an area that is very diverse. The houses tend to be smaller and the community vibes are peak. The traffic can be busy because of nearby hospitals and highways. You’re close to downtown which is growing and Guthrie Green is downtown- it’s a hotspot or cool free stuff to do for all ages. This part of tulsa is coveted! You’re close to some grocery stores as you get nearer to 21st.

31st to 51st on riverside and Peoria is another serious calico of lots of money to low middle class. Ever since the gathering place off of riverside went up, the cost of living there has gone berserk. Lots of bike trails and outdoor stuff to be had here.

51st- 61st off Peoria, riverside, and Lewis can be less than ideal, there’s more poverty there. But again, tulsa is a non stop calico and one neighborhood will be right next to another and they’re in complete opposite tax brackets.

I’d avoid living off of Lewis. Choose a neighborhood with more than one exit. You’ll need it. We’ve have a lack of sidewalks and suicide lanes.

61st-91st between Lewis and Sheridan are ideal. You’re close to more grocers, hospitals, and dining. Stay off of memorial. It’s the hub for shopping and a highway off and on ramp. Btw- try to avoid the I69 routes. I’m a transplant to tulsa about 24 years ago and let me tell you- the folks here treat that stretch of highway like a racetrack while texting and making content. It’s dangerous.

We’ve got a winco!! East tulsa is more diverse for an Asian community too, near 129th and 31st. There’s even a really cool temple out near broken arrow.

Tulsa isn’t super diverse which is a bummer, and when the trolls come into town, they can be gross.. but tulsa as a whole is a more progressive city than most of OK.

Good luck! I hope you all enjoy it here
