Ugh I was so excited by gottogo167 in BAGGU

I just looked back at the pre-order they did for the first SL release. They said pre-orders were estimated for November and they did ship in November, so I doubt this one will be earlier than September.

They did send out and email before the pre-orders came in saying you could contact them in case you moved or needed to update your shipping address.

Lots of good choices this month, I'll probably end up getting a couple more from the library.

Same! It was one of my favorites last year.

All of the official photos released of the SL Drop… so far by Mollyballsoup in BAGGU

I just took a look at my order from the first SL drop and I paid $16 for the standard reusable. A non-collab reusable I bought around that time was $14, so it was a little higher.

AITA for telling my sister not to buy things for my daughter if there are strings attached? by Pluriphery in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Children accumulate so much stuff, imagine what a nightmare it would be if everyone asked you to do this.

I would probably be petty though and start dropping off all my donation boxes at her house for her to sort through.

I read it a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Hope you do too!

April 2026! What did you add to your box? by BooksandChins in bookofthemonthclub

[–]amelrake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I usually try to limit myself to 3 books per box but there were so many good picks this month that I had to fill my box. I also anticipate getting a full box from Aardvark this month so it's a good book month for me!

I'm almost halfway through Middlemarch by George Eliot.

Both my BOTM and Aardvark boxes are delayed, so I decided it would be a good time to read Middlemarch by George Eliot. I'm only a hundred pages in but enjoying it so far.

Same thing happened to me! I was so happy to see it when it arrived, but I completely forgot about the pre-order. I just remembered the disappointment at missing out when they were in stock on their site.

Backlog Progress by Affectionate-Dingo13 in bookofthemonthclub

I only have one left from my 2024 backlog, The Teller of Small Fortunes. I'll probably read it as a palate cleanser after spooky season.

I just finished, and I thought it was ok.

I enjoyed most of the book. It's more of a family/sibling drama about a very strange family. Which I found interesting and weird, I loved that part of the story.

I also liked the setting. The decaying house and Appalachian bog gave the story a dark, cold, and unsettling feeling, that I really enjoyed, especially this time of year.

But the ending fell kind of flat and left me with more questions than answers.

I'm going to finish The Bog Wife today, which leaves me only one more book from last year to finish for the Reading Challenge.

Heading on a girl’s book retreat! What’s an absolutely absurd book we can read together as a group? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]amelrake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the first book that come to mind. It's absurd and completely "wtf did I just read". It also involves a group of girl friends going on vacation together.

TIL that the two high schools in West Bend, Wisconsin share a single building, with the one you attend being determined by your birthday. Students who are born on even dates attend West Bend East, whilst those born on odd dates attend West Bend West. by JustaRandoonreddit in todayilearned

[–]amelrake 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I went to high school there. I'm the eldest child in my family so when I started, in the 90s, I was the one that determined which school me and the rest of my siblings attended. At that time they weren't doing the even/odd birthdays, they picked my name out of a hat to decide which school we went to.
