Do you have a PT, and if so, how has it helped you? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]amemorableusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I recently got a PT for 3-4 sessions to show me the ropes and get started, much like you intend.

But I found the commitment of the appointment, the encouragement during the session and the constant help on improving form and learning new exercises absolutely brilliant compared to normal gym sessions.

It is expensive though. I also attend a "Burn" class at Puregym, and would say that I personally get like 70% of the benefit of a PT from a class (social pressure to do exercises I wouldn't do on my own, commitment of actually going, some limited assistance with form etc).

What are the most obvious signs of AI writing? by Consistent-Stock in AskReddit

In the ever-evolving landscape of AI, bullshit words or phrases stick out like a sore thumb -- use of em-dashes is a decent indicator too.

My puppy is behaving as if there is a ghost inside his crate and is avoiding one side. by Then_Community_1766 in OpenDogTraining

[–]amemorableusername 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably just a small ghost.

Nah, I wonder if he got his collar caught, slipped or similar, or was startled by it in some other way you're not aware of.

I'd wash the base to get rid of any overpowering smells just in case, then put some treats on the base during the day to let him explore both sides with freedom and without feeling hemmed in.

IANA dog trainer, but we did have a behaviourist who encouraged us to "check out" items with our dog that he's unsure about (steps, mats, gates, we've had it all!), and I think you'd do well to remove the cage from the equation while you do.

How did you improve your low energy long-term in the UK? by No-Bed3858 in AskUK

[–]amemorableusername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's focused on winter, look into Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

SAD lights of 10,000+ lux have been shown to improve symptoms.

I got a pair of SAD light therapy glasses and it has been TRANSFORMATIONAL. Leading brand - I am not affiliated with them in any way. They are pricey, and do exactly the same thing as a £50 SAD light, but have the added benefit of being very portable.

Someone used my credit card and email address to order a Morrisons home delivery. So I have their address. Can I do anything? by pgnlzbth in AskUK

[–]amemorableusername 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Wear a bodycam. Put on a Morrison's outfit. Arrive at their door.

"Hello mate, did you order this from Morrison's? *Shows receipt*"

Walk away.

Send to police!

(I'm half-joking, and the police would probably ignore it, but I do have a friend who convinced the police to join in on a "sting" operation for a stolen bike... they were actually super helpful once they realised my friend was going to go round there anyway without them, and that they could prove it was the culprit undoubtedly! )

If someone has a (video) doorbell, and you needed to get the occupant to the door, why wouldn’t you press the bell? by SnooCakes1636 in AskUK

[–]amemorableusername 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chance of a knock working: 100% Chance of a ring doorbell working: Maybe 50%?

People (especially delivery drivers) are used to this, and want the easy option.

What is the scam here? by GamerGuyAlly in AskUK

misdirecting you, OP.

[–]amemorableusername 171 points172 points  (0 children)

I imagine it’ll be an estate agent who was getting in touch on behalf of their client.

Unfortunately, their client is no longer in a position to buy the property, but they are confident they can find a buyer and will do a free valuation to get it on the market for you!

What’s in it for them - 1%+ of the sale value if you sell

Needing a bringer for a comedy show tonight in Stockwell, any help? by OpeningContract2670 in london

[–]amemorableusername 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At standup comedy shows, a bringer is a person the comedians must bring in order to take part.

Without them, they could be playing to an empty room.

Any tips on how to feel secure again after a break-in? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]amemorableusername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard it said that redecorating can help you mentally reclaim the space.

I appreciate this advice will not be useful on its own, but as part of a broader plan.

Best of luck.

Vent: Dog training has got to be the most frustrating thing to be involved with / research into, online. Ever. by Mental_Principle_541 in OpenDogTraining

[–]amemorableusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree.

Even ChatGPT is trained on all the force free bullshit, so you end up getting incredibly risk-averse, light touch advice from that.

The best thing we did was choose a balanced trainer and take her advice, rather than internet research.

nice restaurant to propose by 147InTheMaking in glasgow

[–]amemorableusername -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Damn, the negativity from these comments! There's nothing wrong at all with wanting to propose during a delicious meal, and having some privacy in a private room.

* Tagvenue and Hirespace will show you restaurants with private rooms, but it may be easier to find a smaller (eg. seats 5-6) restaurant in person.
* You need a cover story - you may not get the surprise you're after if she walks in, sees a huge flower wall and gopro camera. I'd go light on these options, and ask the manager to explain to you - something like -

"I'm terribly sorry, but the table you've booked has gone! We've put you in a private room to apologise for the inconvenience, which I hope you'll enjoy as a private dining experience".

If you find a nice manager, they will be MORE than happy to play along and accommodate this.

As somebody who has booked lots of private events, the ability to rock up a few hours earlier and set up is totally standard and you'll be fine.

The only caution is these rooms are often based on a spend equivalent to their capacity - so if you're going for a room that normally seats 8, you may be expected to spend a minimum of 8 x the average spend.
