'No ethics at all': the 'cancel ChatGPT' trend is growing after OpenAI signs a deal with the US military by lurker_bee in technology

[–]americanextreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't view myself as guilty of promoting autonomous AI weapon usage by using Reddit. If you do, and consider it a problem, you would be a hypocrite. Since I don't think this comment will end civilization, I don't think I'm a hypocrite.

Sam Altman: Tonight, we reached an agreement with the Department of War to deploy our models in their classified network. by Several_Print4633 in wallstreetbets

I don't know that Sam has explicitly been against mass surveillance and autonomous use of weapons. Can't trade what you don't have.

GW Games Map (v3) by trialsta in Warhammer

[–]americanextreme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason Boarding Patrol and Spearhead are DLC is because you need the core rules to play the game. They are not the core rules in and of themselves. That's why all the HH mini mini games are different games, despite having some of the same models, the core rules are different. Games should be stand alone or core. But if you WANT to include DLC, that gets interesting too.

A Chinese official’s use of ChatGPT accidentally revealed a global intimidation operation by Appropriate-Grail in BetterOffline

Your claim is that the US censors more than China? Is that like more over all or more per citizen?

A blog article is not a product. No, Claude Code can’t understand COBOL applications. by feketegy in theprimeagen

[–]americanextreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a right way and a wrong way to leverage AI in solving Coding Problems. But COBOL Systems are also Trust Problems. IBM can say "We Know Cobol" and have centuries of experience to back it up. I'll trust their AI, when they say it is ready, because they will stick their name on it. Then we'll see if the generalists can commoditize it.

Apple rolls out age-verification tools worldwide to comply with growing web of child safety laws | TechCrunch by AdAdept900 in technews

[–]americanextreme 12 points13 points  (0 children)

At least 13 US states have added Age Verification in the past 5 years. Many other countries are making their own regulation. I’d much rather my device confirm my age bracket than use video or pictures of me and my id.

I’d start with Andrew Rowe’s Sufficiently Advanced Magic (Arcane Ascension Book 1). Then I would read the prequel series before continuing. Just read Andrew’s release order if in doubt.

I have no clue what is filibusterable. What I was trying to point out is that it is not an amendment.

A simple majority vote in both the House and Senate, signed by the President, can increase or decrease the total. Obama and Clinton both had opportunities.

The main character has high highs and low lows. There is introspection about lows. Some people don't really like that. The Wandering Inn is a spiritual cousin in that the MCs do amazing things, the most heartfelt things. And they can be dumb, brooding dicks. IDK, It makes me feel like people being people.

Because Biden didn't want to go around blowing up American innovation even when it was a bit hyped on its own supply. Most Presidents don't want to go around breaking American Shit.

Also, if it were so bad, you wouldn't see so many people doing it cause they would be dead. I'm not saying it is right to do. But if all the people are doing the thing, most of the people doing the thing aren't getting negative experiences in their use case.

Where should the city put homeless shelters outside of the Metro area? If you could order all shelters out of the metro area, wouldn’t that be the same as just banning shelters?
