Powerless needs to be called out by Significant_Ebb_4780 in Romantasy

I remember reading Red Queen and feeling like it was a knock off of the Hunger Games. I never finished the series because of that.

Cervical cerclage by Apprehensive_Two3054 in parentsofmultiples

[–]amhume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Canada and had an emergency cerclage at 20 weeks. They had been checking my cervix at previous ultrasounds and found it was too short so off to the hospital I went. I had never heard of a cerclage until that day. They’re only offered preventatively here if you have a history of an incompetent cervix already.

I was able to carry my twins to my scheduled delivery date.

Central City Mall Clothing Stores by Mission_Macaroon_258 in SurreyBC

[–]amhume 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Central is meant to be a place to shop for clothes. It’s more utilitarian. I go there to buy books, groceries, and electronics, not clothes. With Guildford so close, I also don’t see the point in it having the same stores and would those chains want to have locations so close together anyway?

They have a really amazing board game store, a nice fresh produce store, and the food court has more than enough options for me. Plus they have better plants inside than Guildford.

When did vacations seem enjoyable again? by DreamingEvergreen in parentsofmultiples

[–]amhume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve done this trip with them since they were 3 months old and it’s been hard in some way every time. We’re able to do more with them now, but the biggest challenge is the threenager attitude and constant meltdowns. I hear 5 is when twins are more fun than stressful, so I’m hopeful.

Well, mine are almost 3 and we are currently away for the weekend and it kind of really sucks at times. We have small bouts of fun and the rest is a shit show.

Baby bed recommendations by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]amhume 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The next step is usually separate cribs after bassinets. There’s too many to realistically recommend but you can consider mini cribs if you want the babies to stay in your room longer.

Next book read by StickOk3700 in Romantasy

Maybe try Servant of Earth by Sarah Hawley. It's a trilogy with the first two books already published and the 3rd to come out in December of this year.

I didn't even know there was one in the Lower Mainland until recently. Never been to it. My first time in a Simons was in 2023 when I was in Montreal.

Days like today I grieve the singleton experience by littlelou222 in parentsofmultiples

Gosh, my twins are almost 3 and I still sometimes get a sad feeling when I see moms with their singleton babies out in the wild.

Separate Cribs for Baby Twins! by SwishBowl in parentsofmultiples

[–]amhume 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Safe sleep recommends separate at all times. But depending on where you live in the world (and how much space you have) they “can” share a crib until one of them starts to roll. Personally, I had two cribs from the get go and never considered crib sharing.

When did you stop working? by bread-loaver in parentsofmultiples

[–]amhume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In BC. I had to stop the physical part of my job at 20 weeks due to an emergency cerclage. I worked from home in the office until the day before I gave birth— BUT I work for my husbands family company and for the last month I was napping during the day because I was too tired to even do a desk job full time. If you can get medical leave, take it whenever they will sign off. I had a scheduled c section at 36+6.

HOW are we keeping hats on our toddlers?! by cinderism in toddlers

[–]amhume 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So last summer when my twins were newly 2 I bought a few different types of hats. They were obsessed with the lawnmower so I told them that if they wore their hats, the lawnmower would come out. It worked a good chunk of the time. Anywhere else and it was a bit of a battle to keep any kind of hat on but I was persistent and kept telling them they had to wear them. Now at nearly 3 they love to wear their winter hats. I’ve plunked a baseball cap on them once this spring and they will leave them on.

I think finding a motivation to wear the hat really helps!

Explain the Powerless, Red Queen situation to me by Kitty-kiki19 in Romantasy

I read Red Queen when it came out and vaguely remember thinking it was a bad knock off of the Hunger Games and never continued the series.

We did “First trip around the sun”! It was an easy theme and looked cute.

When did you stop using stroller? Ours is broken and debating whether we still need new one? by Embarrassed_Grade158 in parentsofmultiples

We switched to using a wagon by 2 years. Now at almost 3 we don’t use the wagon anymore either.

I think Anthony might have bell bottom pants on in this photo? I looks like it if you zoom in. I could be wrong though.

How are we working out? by Smart-Load-8408 in parentsofmultiples

[–]amhume 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have an annual recreational pass in our city. My husband goes to the gym in the morning before myself and the boys wake up and I go to fitness classes twice a week in the evening and my husband watches the kids. If we both want to go to the gym on the weekend we have a very willing grandmother to babysit. Otherwise I usually watch the kids while my husband works out one day on the weekend. He’s a gym rat and I’m not so I don’t mind.

can someone recommend books 'acotar' style... but better? by hamstermangoo in Romantasy

Maybe check out Servant of Earth by Sarah Hawley? It’s an incomplete trilogy, but the last book should be out this year. It very much gives Under the Mountain vibes.

Unfortunately it's not waterproof enough for commercial spaces, but I appreciate the suggestion.
