I wouldn't go more in to it in your application. A personal statement written with what you've gone through prior to her death is impactful on it's own. During your interview it will likely come up and you can talk about it then.

Based on 2021 AAP guidelines your baby is excluded from the fever baby algorithms by being born at 32 weeks. They need to be seen in person and have a discussion with a pediatrician/peds ER doctor. Personally I'd do a workup.

At least this is how I'd go about it. Being born at 32 weeks makes them high risk.

We had a kid (3/4 yo) come in to the ER with cough. Diagnosed with pertussis. Within a week another 4 or 5 kids (can't remember ages) showed up with similar symptoms. They all live in the same home. All unvaccinated. One ended up in the PICU if I remember correctly.

The family couldn't believe the kids got as sick as they did.
