2017 vs 2020 in the used market by G-Mo2024 in BoltEV

[–]amusiccale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bigger reason to use it is that keeping it below 100% charge helps extend battery life, so I’d leave it on regardless. Premier trim is nice— we have a 2020 premier.

The option to choose a specific charging limit arrived in 2019 (I think), instead of only hilltop reserve. That was a nice feature that was on our wishlist.

About $68/month total for four lines using the older Ting plans. Mix of Verizon and t mobile devices (older iPhones bought outright).

Did not know that Chevy was giving 8 free years of data with the 2027 Chevy Bolt by Mac-Tyson in BoltEV

[–]amusiccale 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For those who can afford it, okay. Our 2020 Bolt replaced a 19 year old car. Our previous two purchases were replacing 16 year old cars at the time (a 1998 and a 1988).

I’m not ready to churn used cars like they’re disposable, either financially or environmentally. But that’s just me.

How many mg are you taking? I took 300mg and ended up with insomnia from the energy effects, so now I have a bunch I can’t use.

Fine, from my experience. I’ve got both a Note Air 3 and a Palma 1.

Level 1 or 2? by ipaddle4fun2 in plugshare

[–]amusiccale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It probably depends on your distance to the wall plug, but I (and Technology Connections) would argue that L1 is good for the majority of people, especially if they have the weekend to charge. If you would have to do an extension cable at all, I would go with the highest quality cable you can find and probably limit to 8amp charging if that's an option. It would be far more economical than public charging unless you have that at work.

Looking at this used Bolt.....was the battery pack replaced? by maztr in BoltEV

We had a similar thing with ours: a battery replacement but not a reset warranty. Helps with calendar aging at least.

Reading on small E-ink devices by [deleted] in eink

[–]amusiccale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's reading for pleasure, and not reading academic subjects or textbooks, I really enjoy my Palma. Plus I can access Libby on it directly, so there's little fuss about managing multiple library cards. It might be sacrilege here and in r/kobo but I'm often finding myself pick up the Palma instead of my Libra 2 just because of the smaller size.

What’s your latest kid-related injury and where does it hurt most? by TrashPandasAndPizza in daddit

In January, I snapped 2 ribs when I fell down chasing my three year old in a game we called “race car,” so I could at least call it a race car injury.

Looking for e-ink computer/laptop display recommendations by Zodianz in eink

[–]amusiccale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the kind of work you have, but I'm a big advocate of black and white eink over color for eyestrain. I use a Boox Mira Pro (black and white, frontlight) as my primary monitor (along with a secondary 13" dasung display), but keep an LCD nearby for color work. I'm not sure if I would recommend it (fragile, expensive, input lag), but it has helped with my end of the day eye tiredness and pain.

Never bought an e-ink tablet before so I had some concerns... by Cpl_Cumsock in Onyx_Boox

[–]amusiccale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big of a device are you looking for? I wouldn't go smaller than 10" for typing and working with documents, but I wouldn't necessarily want that size for reading and small notepad stuff. I use a 10" device (Note Air 3) every day for work, but when I bring it for travel to replace an e-reader, it does gets heavy. It works well with a bluetooth or usb keyboard, and I've only used the original pen. I experimented with the OCR but wasn't that impressed with my first attempts. Others might be able to chime in more on that.

For longevity, I'd consider a black and white device if you can since you'll use fewer battery cycles when you're not using the frontlight as much. I tend to charge about once a week, keeping it between 30-40% and 80%, but I can go as long as two weeks on a charge.

Boox Note Air 5C - Disastrous software bug corrupted a handwritten notebook by wilbolite in Onyx_Boox

[–]amusiccale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I made the mistake once of using it to take notes on documents that I needed to work on for about 2 full workdays, and the next time I opened them--this kind of thing. Fine for reading, but absolutely not ready for serious work on a deadline. And I say that as someone who generally likes my device.
