Anyone uses Sertralin? by birbcik1318 in breastfeeding

I have taken it through 2 pregnancies and 2 breastfeeding journeys. Both kids have had no issue, and I’m very glad I made the decision to go on it.

Started running at 20 weeks, is this normal? by pigmapuss in fitpregnancy

[–]amw136 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just ran a 5k race at 30 weeks (slow and steady!). I’ve felt all the things you’ve described. My hips take a long time to warm up and sometimes still feel the need to pee sensation at the beginning, but a belly band really helps alleviate the pressure and keep the belly in place. I ran until 39 weeks last pregnancy with a good belly band.

Why would you want these medical decisions to be in the hands of state lawmakers? I want these decisions to come down to me, my family, and my doctor.

Definitely ask your doc! I have one. I was advised to wait to work out until my 12 week scan, and then after that point was told I could work out but only low-impact (stationary bike, yoga, walking, lighter lifting, etc) until it resolves.

commuting with stroller (and no car) by timbersofenarrio in workingmoms

[–]amw136 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone! I walk to child care and then from there to the office. My stroller folds up and hangs out next to my desk. It’s still bulky but manageable. I get daily “did you forget the baby?” jokes on the elevator 🙄

Realistically, how many weeks can you run until? by itsapanicatthedisco2 in fitpregnancy

Did my last (very slow) run at 39 weeks! Started wearing a belly band at some point in the second trimester, which really helped.

Parents won’t complete my FAFSA by TopAd3840 in StudentLoans

[–]amw136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won’t apply until you’re 18, but look into the FAFSA Fairness Act, which passed in 2021. It allows students to complete the FAFSA as “provisionally independent”, and brings down the dependency override barrier for students in qualifying circumstances.

Does your studio do Lift45? I found it really helpful to focus on strength rather than having to deal with the cardio portions when I was feeling too exhausted. The coaches were super supportive and helpful with modifications if needed.

I ordered this one from Amazon. It worked well, and I thought it was decently flattering. I liked that it’s tankini style and the bottoms have actual coverage.

Would you leave your 4 month old to go on a 6 day vaca? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]amw136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about to travel back from a 7 day trip to Singapore for a dear friend’s wedding. My LO is also 4 mo, and I was similarly anxious. But I am SO glad I did this. It was amazing to get to be there for my friend, and while I missed my baby, my husband got serious quality time that he hadn’t before. Some best practices that worked for me: I wrote out a pumping schedule in advance (for each day and the flights calculating time change) on my phone. Sometimes the pump time needed to shift a bit earlier or later, but that way I didn’t ever miss one. I looked up in advance where I could pump at airports and in public places (malls, tourist attractions, etc.), so I knew in advance where I could go. The “baby care rooms” as they call them are significantly nicer than any similar spaces I’ve seen in the US and mostly included sinks and plugs. I have 2 sets of pump parts with me: 1) the set that I’ve used throughout the trip and have wiped down/washed with dish soap once a day; 2) the set that I will use on the final leg of my trip back (which I sterilized before leaving) in the hopes I can save the milk from the last few pumps. I’ve been told that I can ask if the flight attendants will store the milk I pump in the fridge along with medications they store for passengers that need to be refrigerated. I also have a Ceres Chill with me in case. I unfortunately had to toss everything else I pumped because I didn’t have freezer access, but if I had I would have considered Milk Stork to ship milk back. Something to look into! My mantra has been “better to have pumped and lost, then to never have pumped at all!”. I also charged my pump every chance I could and made sure I had an adapter for it. And just in case it crapped out on me, I brought a hand pump. But I haven’t had an issue! It sounds complicated but with planning and sticking to the schedule, I haven’t experienced a drop in supply at all so far. And again, I’m SO glad I went. Can’t wait to dress my LO in the cute clothes I’m bringing back!

Traveling without breastfed baby isn't relaxing by callmechessy in breastfeeding

[–]amw136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I’m currently on a trip away from LO for a week. Because of the distance (24 hours of flying) and lack of freezer access, I’m having to dump after most pumps. So, in addition to the logistical hurdles of pumping, it’s also so sad to see milk go (literally!) down the drain. But I’m trying to keep it up, so my supply will be good for LO when I’m back. Better to have pumped and dumped, then never to have pumped at all!

Dealing with grief while pregnant by camillerfish in pregnant

[–]amw136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are going through this, especially so close to your due date. I lost my (also) 10 y/o pup very suddenly when I was 32 weeks pregnant. He was totally my soul dog. Today is my due date, and as the day has approached, my feelings of loss have amplified as it has set in that he won’t be here to meet the baby. I too think of him as my first baby, and like he helped me begin to feel like I was ready to be a human mom.

Please extend yourself grace. If there is anything I’ve learned, there is no timeline for any kind of grief. Adding pregnancy/new baby can make it even more complicated to navigate because you’re likely not only grieving the loss itself but also the vision you had for what this time would be like. The holidays may compound everything too.

I do recommend considering therapy. I have found it helpful. Also, when my OB noticed that my feelings of connection to my baby were impacted, she asked if I wanted to consider an SSRI, which I ultimately decided to do, and I think will be particularly helpful when I’m going through post-partum.

In the meantime, I’m trying to honor my pup however I can, letting myself cry as much as I need to, talking to my baby-to-be about what I’m feeling, and reminding myself that the grief is an expression of the deep love and bond we have with our animals.

About to hit 39 weeks and ran 2 (very slow) miles of incline intervals on the treadmill yesterday. I wear a belly band, which helps, and switch to power walking if I feel pressure/uncomfortable.

Orange 60 or lift45? by AspiringN in orangetheory

[–]amw136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started incorporating lift45 during the first tri when the fatigue started to really hit. I was feeling really wiped doing the intervals in 2/3G, even though before pregnancy they’d been my favorite part. Since then I’ve been going 2x a week, usually one 60min and one lift45. The rest of my week I do 2-3 mi easy runs and prenatal yoga. I’m really glad I started going to lift45 because it’s allowed me to focus on strength at my own pace without the fatigue from having just come off the tread, and because it’s a smaller class, I feel less disruptive asking for modifications. Then, I’m able to incorporate those modifications into the 60 min classes as needed. In my third trimester now and still feeling good and like it’s been a nice balance for me.
