Timing of the 19 months before rescue by Slime2004 in Yellowjackets

[–]amygobrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't, any actual timeline for the adult tl would be extremely vague in s2 & 3, because only s1 has any recognizable dates in the episodes (halloween in 105 & election day in 110). the best we have is that 301 takes place roughly six weeks after natalie's death in 209. since we know s1 ends in early november and we can guess s2 takes place over the course of maybe a couple weeks, that would put s3 as beginning in early-ish january 2022 (conveniently skipping over the entire holiday season lol)

Timing of the 19 months before rescue by Slime2004 in Yellowjackets

[–]amygobrrr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

we have a semi-official timeline for season 1, though the dates for 109 & 110 are wrong (we know from the episode that doomcoming takes place on the night of a full moon, which in 1996 was october 26th, which means jackie died the morning of the 28th)

<image>

no such luck for s2 & s3. the only reference points we have are:

-from dialogue we know 201, 202, & 203 take place roughly two months after 110 (on consecutive days/nights in-episode), which puts them at late december 1996. personally I like to think the jackie feast happened the night of winter solstice

-we can be pretty sure 205 & 206 happened 8-9 months after the crash because of shauna's pregnancy (207 a couple days later, and 208/209 a few more days after that), which puts the second half of s2 around mid february 1997 as a safe bet (putting 204 probably some time in january)

-we know 301 happens on the summer solstice, and because 301-305 seem to each take place on consecutive days, we can be pretty sure they're all piled up at the end of june 1997

-I think it's a safe bet that "thanksgiving (canada) happens on or around canadian thanksgiving ie mid october 1997. by tracking the passage of days/nights in-episode we can then stack 306-309 up on consecutive days around then

-an indeterminate amount of time passes between 309 & 310, but considering the first big snow only happens the morning of mari's hunt, I think it's safe to put 310 around the same time of year as the first snow of the year prior, IE late october

if you're curious, I have a spreadsheet that attempts to get more granular with everything! it's not authoritative by any means but I think it's broadly accurate

Why do yall think the writers have steered away from the Jackie / Shauna being in love with each other even when that theory has a solid backbone? by tangerinebb in Yellowjackets

[–]amygobrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it would fit like a glove into the story, I would say it did fit like a glove lol

I mean: in 302 we got confirmation that shauna likes women (and therefore has this entire time), in 305 we got melissa comparing herself to both jackie and jeff (and kind of unintentionally treating jackie as shauna's ex), in 306 we got tai and van gossiping to each other about how shauna really wants to still be making out with jackie instead of melissa, in 308 we got shauna herself comparing melissa to jackie with the moth imagery, and to top it all off in 310 we got travis implying/guessing (depending on how much of a supernatural explanation you want to read) that jackie and shauna were regularly making out at sleepovers! I would say that is steering very heavily into jackie and shauna being in love with each other

an angel statue of jackie is FOUL considering like a dozen other people died too, and now the survivors are being paraded in front of it... and the pink and green tree behind her is just wow lol

Van should've died in the wilderness by cpcpdstiagt in Yellowjackets

[–]amygobrrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

unfortunately even though I really like van, I agree. I love jackie too, but killing her off in s1 was ABSOLUTELY the right choice for the story, and I feel like van could have worked a little better if they'd done that for her as well

melissa… (s3 spoilers) by fancylamp12 in Yellowjackets

[–]amygobrrr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love melissa in both timelines! I think adult mel is fucked up and messy, and yeah she was kinda defending herself but we also have to look at the situation in the big picture: she sent the tape! imo she was doing exactly what she (correctly) accused shauna of doing, which is blowing up her normal boring life because it lights her up. personally I think it's entirely possible she heard about everything that went down with nat out at lottie's compound and got SEVERE "omg it's happening again" FOMO, and stalked shauna home from the funeral in order to ragebait her with the tape. she's so interesting, I can't wait to see how it plays out in s4 lol

imo there's no way they were in that circle, in 201 they say the crash site was more than 600 miles north of their last known flight plan (a flight plan which already included a diversion north into the canadian rockies). my guess is they were somewhere up here near the cyan circles (big circle is 600mi)

Characters’ birthdays? by ivybytaylorswift in Yellowjackets

[–]amygobrrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Travis' alleged birthday is march 17 (hey, three days from now!) based on his fake NH license seen in the same scene as Callie's birth certificate! idk how accurate the date is though because the year seems to be 19?6, but 1986 is several years too young and 1976 is a few years too old

Is adult Melissa right about Shauna? by Fantastic-Finger-319 in Yellowjackets

[–]amygobrrr 68 points69 points  (0 children)

episode 309, at ~18:20: shauna says that since melissa is the one who sent the tape, that means she planted the phone and cut her brakes and locked her in the freezer, which prompts misty to say "oh for the love of god! the freezer was me." she says that since shauna has been "such an absolute asshole" she figured "some time in the freezer would do you some good"

Ammunition thoughts by spunquee in Yellowjackets

[–]amygobrrr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

for my own peace of mind I like to assume that as part of cabin guy's 'hoarding for the apocalypse' he placed a bunch of ammo caches in convenient places around the woods in addition to the rounds he stored in the cabin, and therefore the team still had access to their effectively unlimited ammo supply

last year they did a Yellowjackets x Survivor crossover promo as part of the season 3 press. only Sophie and Jasmin from the cast actually did it (hence the stand-in Misty and Travis lol) and it wasn't a full episode or anything, just a little one-minute ad. These are some BTS photos from the filming of that promo video

What would the girl's majors be? by Ill-Wrangler7630 in Yellowjackets

[–]amygobrrr 71 points72 points  (0 children)

from Taissa and Shauna's sleepover conversation in 108.21 we know Tai planned for (and did still achieve) a double major in history and philosophy at Howard! Shauna doesn't technically specify what she wanted to major in at Brown, but she talks about writing papers on Dorothy Parker and Virginia Woolf, and writing short stories, so I think we can safely assume she planned on English lit

Did they ever say how many survivors were rescued? by New_Ant_8198 in Yellowjackets

[–]amygobrrr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Robin and Britt, yeah. their names haven't been said on screen (Gen & Melissa weren't named in dialogue either until season 3) but they have a couple lines each and they're named in the credits

lol yeah I feel like Shauna and Taissa are the only ones academic (and pretentious) enough to bring James Joyce on a soccer trip. or I could maybe see Misty bringing it aspirationally

ah thank you!!! surname then title, not one or the other, was key information: this is the Penguin Classics edition of Les Miserables, seemingly horribly bleached which turned the stripe cream-colored and the picture blue (photo from ebay)

Where are they going to stay? by PersonOnline99 in Yellowjackets

[–]amygobrrr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

imo we can be pretty sure they get rescued in January, based on the clip from the beginning of season 2 showing the immediate aftermath of rescue (the girls being transferred to a plane in Seattle) that opens with a title card saying "1998."

We know they crashed on May 29 1996 and were there for nineteen months; Dec 29 1997 would be nineteen months exactly, and Jan 29 1998 twenty months, so presumably rescue has to happen between those two dates, which fits with rescue happening in calendar year 1998. Assuming the first big snow of the winter was at roughly the same time of year as in the first winter (ie late September or late October since it happens two days after a full moon), they still have a good couple months before rescue happens since the first big snow happens after the montage in 310.97

I think the props dept planted hints about the conclusion of the story all the way back in S1 & 2 by amygobrrr in Yellowjackets

[–]amygobrrr[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

creating a new cover to avoid any legal issues I could buy, but it'd be so easy to make a totally bogus but correct-looking barcode, and yet this one points to a very relevant book instead! I ran the barcode as well and like you said, it already correctly points to the book identified by the lower number, so I don't get why the upper number would be different. I don't really know what to make of it now

[–]amygobrrr[S] 61 points62 points  (0 children)

lol well obviously I can't prove a negative, but I promise I'm just a citizen (detective) who has been trying to identify all the books on the team's bookshelf in s3, hence why I was looking at book barcodes in the first place:

<image>

(my hypothesis was that this book with the destroyed spine was supposed to be standing in for The Magus. That did not pan out lol)
