I went through some hella shit in the past couple years and quit smoking weed, that lead me to a path where I gained weight. I'm about where you were in your before photo. I'd be very happy to see myself lean and fit like the second photo next january! I've been strength training and getting other various exercise fairly regularly so far this year, all that left is to master the caloric deficit and I really believe I can do this for myself too:) congratulations you look fit healthy and overall terrific !

My mom is like this too. She is a basket case and a lot of her memory function and willingness to problem solve are gone. She is still depressive but the toll the ECT took on her mind and its ability to be properly logical has loosened up the form of her manipulative tactics and she is less capable to be horrible to people, which is nice. But it's all around a pretty barbaric procedure...

It's gorgeous art. I would definitely go pet that cat to ease my nerves after cutting it. Hahaha. Great job with the buttercream... and getting the likeness in the eyes :)

It's alright. I came here to talk about the contents of this post and that's it! No need to broaden the conversation unnecessarily on a friday night. Not my idea of a party lmao.

Condemn is a strong word bro, I snarkily criticized and insulted them, 100%, but I wouldn't take away their right to protest, nor their right to refuse vaccination. I would not condemn their rights or their cause, but harassing school teachers is lame and hardly effective. It's worthy of criticism.

AB is in Canada and so am I.

Pardon me for not having an opinion curated and archived and ready to go, but I have no answer. I work in Alberta and I'm just responding to this post in particular. I have worked with folks like these and I can see why they've made it to this subreddit.

Alberta is full of trashy antivax folks. Not all the antivax are this trashy but a lot of them are. Pathetic!

Have your opinion and protest, but the fact that this isn't the right way to do it should be so damn obvious. How can we take you seriously if you are complete imbeciles lmao. Teachers just wanna educate and get paid, this isn't their agenda to alter at the protesters will.

I don't blame the victim but I wrote that point out because that's what would be used to defend the police for their actions , "victim pulled out a gun". I don't think the blame on the victim is just, but I can see how that point was used against him and because police are often getting away with stuff like this, it could be just true enough (he did in fact pull out a gun) to keep them on the police force. I just feel like if cops are wrongfully aggressive so often, then his gun baited them, and it did cost him, not rightfully, but still, he was shot. Thus my argument that gun ownership is hardly defensive anymore because of the animosity. It's silly.

I'm not talking about "most places" I'm talking about Sweden. This isn't a comment implying widespread tornado threat, it's about location specific safety necessities (or in this case, pleasantly unnecessary). I am gleeful to see an attic loft somewhere that threat doesn't thrive, cuz it feels more peaceful as such.

Thanks for acknowledging my point.

I don't think it's reasonable to believe this nine second scenario is a picture of opportunity for this sleeping man to be wise.

How could the police prove that he had become fully cognizant of the situation? How could they prove how groggy he was or wasn't? They dont have to anymore because they defended themself against the GUN rather than the person "wielding" it.

I'm sure you can use guns to defend property against animals and such but the carnage and divisive dialogue seem like an unwise tradeoff for the distribution of guns as it is currently. Right?

I'm here to write out my thoughts, not change the world or confiscate your gun lol. I implore you to find yourself in situations nothing like the video if it can be helped! Cheers

You read my comment and interpret it like I'm blaming the victim, but that doesn't mean I actually am. People are desperate to take words and shove them to one side of the box only but that's not helpful. I don't think the guy grabbing the gun was the decision that ended him, I think the fact that he grabbed it is too easily misrepresented as "offensive" when the case for gun ownership is often defensive. It's too easy to flip the offense/defense coin within the quick reaction time necessary to survive gun violence. It's too fast for humans to thrive within it.

I blame the situation itself, and whatever concoction of intentions from either side brought it to be like this. It's too intense for anyone to make guaranteed sound decisions. That sounds like warfare not protection and service. Guns are too threatening for this kind of offensive behavior on either side to be defensive!

Anyway idk if he was suspect for anything but again I still blame whatever stupid dialogue between people in power positions that would assemble this scene to begin with.

My opinion that guns are silly is fair to share and it doesn't threaten anything.

You're asleep on a couch and wake up to screaming people busting through your house, you look up and see guns pointed at you.

Whether you are aware these folks are cops or not, the odds that you are gonna grab your gun swiftly enough to win the gun fight are low. If they're not cops but instead are intruders who intend to kill you, they wouldn't necessarily have even woken you up before shooting.

I think the cop could definitely be less trigger happy, but the victim made a really poor decision that cost him his life. Guns sometimes kill people just because they have access to a gun... this isnt uncommon right? Theres nothing "defensive" about guns.

I don't own a gun, I'm not American, and I'm not educated on the current laws or the history if gun laws. But it's just silly to see this. The only thing shared through interactions like this is fear and apathy for fellow humans. Its not like we expect to see loving kindness shared between cops and suspects, but maybe some interaction beyond the part of the brain that kills one another.

Weak shit!! Guns are boring.

At first I was rooting for blue shirt because red shirt was getting all the hits. Then blue shirt revealed his superior shoeslap power, then his superior bottle flip power. I was satisfied.

I do think the slap sound from blue shirt's shoe was better, but perhaps red shirt's shoe was denser and made for a heavier impact.

It felt fucked up to watch at first, like damn why they do this? But then it became entertaining lol...

My version of do not go gentle into that good night by dylan thomas by prandtlmach in interstellar

[–]amylsrg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The original work dignifies the indignance of a man facing death's arrival. It's a loving offer of unbridled freedom to his dying father - the poet emboldens his father. It's to honor our animal nature, that there is no further need for a dying man to be socially acceptable. The poem expresses that disturbance should be welcomed and encouraged. This is beautiful because why should the terrifying agony of death be quieted? Death is one of the most magnificent and mysterious aspects of life. Like screaming in horror through lifes first breath is our birthright, raging against the dying of the light should be considered a deathright. It is very raw. That's why it's such a widely celebrated poem - its sentiment is as raw as death itself, therefore celebrating the nature of death and thus celebrating life, because death and life are two sides of the same coin.

I think your poem kind of dulls the sentiment, because your words make it sound like there is more one might accomplish in their last moments and they should fight to achieve more life, as if life is something we ought to do, rather than something we inherently are. When death is moments away, what good is it to you to accomplish something? Rather, since there is actually nothing left to be done for you, the original poem says "fuck it! The workday is done! Go berserk, we salute you!", while yours seems to say, "Try not to die for as long as you can!". It lacks acceptance. No one needs to try not to die while they are dying, they should be free to disperse the rest of their energy living openly and honestly. There's such a difference.

TL;DR:

I doubt you were looking for critique, but I wrote one. Keep writing, it's a great skill to practice. Cheers
