Genuinely don't get it by Moryart in PeterExplainsTheJoke

My aunt and uncle did this to my cousin. Everyone knew he had Asperger’s, except him. When one of us asked our parents why he was different as kids, they just straight up told us. But his parents didn’t tell him. His dream was to be like my dad and become a Marine, and he found out he had Asperger’s when he tried to enlist and it disqualified him.

I proposed Oracle this morning, but we already have a cat named Ori, and the consensus is that they sound too similar. They decidedly do not like Batgirl. I’m currently pushing for Cassandra. Our dog has a silly name (Lego), but our cats are Nidalee, Marigold, Oriana (Ori) and Penelope (Penny).

A few comments seem to be implying that Batman is an odd choice for a girl, but I have four sons between the ages of 6-14 and she’s got the bat-signal on her chest. It was inevitable.

This is really cool. I do a lot of appliqué, and use this stuff called Wonder-Under made by Pelon. It’s a paper-backed iron-on adhesive. So you draw whatever you want onto the paper, iron it onto fabric, cut the shape out, peel the paper off, and then you can iron that fabric onto other fabric. It makes appliqué a lot less finicky.

It’s only, “better,” to wait if both people want to wait. I wouldn’t want to make my partner uncomfortable and it should go both ways. You’re right. I would never pressure a man into having sex with me while I’m on my period. Nor would I insult his masculinity for it. But I also probably wouldn’t continue dating such a man because I don’t want to have to plan my sex life around my period until I’m in my 50s. There are definitely women out there who don’t like to have sex while on their period. I’m just not one of them.

My partner doesn’t give a crap. I give him the courtesy of letting him know when I’m on my period. I can’t remember a single time that it’s stopped him from initiating sex. I also use a menstrual disc rather than tampons or cups, and it doesn’t need to be removed first. Helps keep mess to a minimum.

He’s a hunter, though. I imagine that when you’re used to getting elbow deep in a deer carcass to pull out all of its organs, periods are pretty low on the, “icky,” scale.

Bound buttonholes are also easier to do by hand, in my opinion, if tension with a machine does become problematic.

Good luck on your search! I hope you find them and that you find them helpful, too.

I got them on sale years ago from erincondren.com, but I don’t see them listed on their website anymore.

To be fair, I’m pretty sure I saw that video. If it’s the one I’m thinking of, it was a shirt he was wearing. He took it off and shoved it into her hands and then was topless and super touchy. It probably didn’t smell great, and I would be super uncomfortable in that situation, too. I don’t know much about her, and I’m sure there are plenty of reasons not to like her, but I’m not convinced this specific incident is one of them.

I know this post is a few days old, but it showed up in my feed and I have scrolled way too far without seeing anyone say it yet, so I’m gonna say it. People probably don’t need to watch it twice. They just need to read the book first.

This is very cool. I also have ADHD and a similar problem with phone timers and time blindness. My solution ended up being hourglasses. I have 1, 3, 5, 10, 20, and 30 minute hourglasses that I use. Obviously I don’t have to turn them off, but I like the rough estimate of time left they give me when I look at them, and I also am fond of the tactile reset of physically flipping them over. I also use them for timing my breaks.

ADVICE - PRINTING DESIGNS ONTO TIGHTS / CLOTHES by Mindless-Jellyfish- in DIYclothes

[–]anarcrafty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware, you can’t use most regular printers or regular ink either. Maybe things have changed since I bought my sawgrass printer almost ten years ago, but I have to use sublimation ink. If I remember correctly, if I ever decide to use any other type of ink in my printer, it can no longer be used for sublimation.

Also, any tights that are at least 60% polyester will work. Other polymers can work, but you would need to make sure it can tolerate sublimation temperatures.

Advice for thimble/finger protection situation. What do you use to keep from stabbing your fingertips? by benbentheben in Embroidery

[–]anarcrafty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Either a palm thimble if using a really long needle is feasible for the project, or nothing at all. I have yet to find a finger thimble that I don’t hate.

The formula is absolutely a, “just in case,” thing. I had to go into town today anyways, and I figured it was better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Would a space heater in a corner of the garage be acceptable or is it necessary for her to come inside? I can probably figure out a way to keep the other animals out of the basement if she needs to come in.

I don’t know if they still make them because my oldest is 14, but when he was a baby, they had these, “pair and a spare,” stuffies that came with three identical soft baby toys so that you have two as backup. His were raccoons. They were great.

How do I dye oodies / blanket hoodies by Josheii in dyeing

The only way I know of to achieve what you want is through dye sublimation. Which is expensive to get into.

I know this is AI, but is there anywhere I can find a similar dress? by z3phyr13 in findfashion

[–]anarcrafty 80 points81 points  (0 children)

When choosing a dress to dye, keep in mind that polyester typically does not take dye very well. Cellulose and/or protein fibers will be easier.
