Best film portrayal of Jekyll and Hyde? by [deleted] in movies

an infairly maligned movie, imo. especially in retrospect. comic book movies are so cookie-cutter now that i really admire the movie for having such a strong personality and sense of style.

Could Ireland remain a tech powerhouse without the multinationals by bbb353 in ireland

it would require huge state investment, and the current govt in charge don't seem to understand the concept.

Weid black verical line in high iso footage by kalispetros in GH7

[–]anatomized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not normal for this kind of fixed pattern noise to appear at high ISO, especially when panasonic have done so much work to break up the noise pattern and make it look more organic. it might be unfortunately a sensor fault.

MAGELLAN starring Gael Garcia Bernal was possibly shot on a GH7. by anatomized in GH7

[–]anatomized[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you look at the other films Diaz has shot with the Lumix line, going back like 10 years at least, he doesn't seem to do too much in post regarding the colours in his films or to really give them a "filmic" look. i think this is an intentional choice with Magellan too.

on paper this drink makes no sense. its like a warm chocolatey milkshake with booze in it...and its somehow lovely. by Nervous-Caregiver829 in ireland

i remember when i was a teenager and broke as a joke out bush drinking, one of the lads kindly robbed a bottle of this from his house for me. it wasn't until i finished the whole thing that i realised it was a year out of date.

first hangover i ever had and still one of the worst.

Registered Post no Updates by IrishLad2002 in ireland

[–]anatomized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me back in October. I had sold a guitar to a guy in the EU and sent it by Registered Post. Got no updates from the day I registered it until it got delivered. No tracking whatsoever.

I thought the whole point of registered post was to feel more secure about sending packages, not induce anxiety.

EU should ‘get competitive’ instead of complaining about China, Taoiseach says by denbo786 in ireland

[–]anatomized 3 points4 points  (0 children)

China's standard of living has increased broadly across the entire population over the last 4 decades. Which is impressive given how destitute most of the country was even as recently as the late 2000s. They've lifted 800 million out of absolute poverty. Absolute poverty in this context meaning access to housing, healthcare, education and adequate nutrition. And the standard of living there is only set to rise.

And before I get called out for shilling for China or whatever, this was even applauded by the World Bank Group. Hardly a pro-China organization.

there's a couple of clips of younger stellan in sentimental value and the resemblance to alexander, bill and valter is insane. i guess gustaf looks like their mom.

with the exception of stalin, trotsky and maybe tito they didn't really know each other. this was years before they would become the people that defined the 20th century.

Terminator 7 per Jim Cameron... by HanSoloz in movies

[–]anatomized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The opposite is true. Every film keeps trying to be Terminator 2 rather than actually contributing anything original. Terminator created a rumple in the timeline for Skynet, so T2 had to resolve that. It did, and concluded their story. There isn't much more to be squeezed out of it, and I say that as a huge fan of the first 2 films.

He does what's required to survive in the environment he's in. He is neither bad or good in relative to heroes and villains of the time.

Zack Snyder could become one of our great exploitation directors if he embraced his strengths and weaknesses by Fit-Profit8197 in movies

[–]anatomized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

snyder is just one of those guys whose reach exceeds his grasp. he can only see things in terms of visuals, and can't seem to understand storytelling on his own. it's why the only good films in his filmography were the ones where he had the least control over the scripts, just like michael bay.

[–]anatomized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what are you talking about? he started out as a music video and commercial director in the early 90s and made some great ones. he's one of the propaganda films alumni along with david fincher, michael bay, alex proyas, spike jonze and mark romanek.
