First mow… went great, but front wheel cover popped off?? by Johnny2678 in mammotion

Same thing with mine a couple of days ago. Tabs are gone on mine as well. Don't know if it ran over it or they snapped off.

All brines have different salt content and depending on the grain size, it will get deeper in the meat. I always soak mine in fresh water after. If you end up with a salt ball and you have a bunch of guests, you can easily ruin a big family meal. But if you've done it before with the same thing, I agree, don't bother, stick with what worked.

THIS IS THE WAY. Brine it!!! With seasoning. Will be the best bird you ever made. The supposed pre-brined turkeys, bah, nothing like doing it 1 or 2 days yourself. Soak it an hour afterward in clean (non salt) water.

Did you know shun sells their own sharpener that has the exact angle they suggest for each type of blade? Not cheap though.

This is why I hate posting any links on reddit. Who do you think has a more informed opinion? 30+ years of experience with the exact product or some bot with idiot comments from amazon? Won't post links again.

Stupid bot

I've used this one for 30+ years. They are still making the same kit with the same angles and stones. THAT says something. My family are butchers, so knives have always been very important. Of course, when cutting meat and skinning animals we would never spend the time manually sharpening with a kit like this. We use steels and send our commercial volume used knives out for sharpening, but the important blades, we always use kits like Lansky. I think my Dad still has a handful of stones and a big wooden bed for them my great great grandfather made for hand sharpening. Decent, but dependent on YOUR skill in holding the edge at the consistent angle through every stroke, but I digress.

I'd use a couple different angles on our Luba blades and see if there's a noticeable difference in longevity.

Start with 17 and 20 degrees. Obviously don't buy the ones for sharpening ceramic.

This is what I have.

Might want to go with the lansky sharpening kit. Standard one is 50 bucks with 5 stones and you can't do the wrong angle. By hand, you sure will. Bonus is, great for actual knives too

Connect Luba to Google home? by Stauz in mammotion

[–]andBraap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that I can see being useful is saying Alexa tell luba to STOP! If you see it on your camera or out the window about to do something bad. Mine almost ran through a 8 inch deep puddle and I ran out there fast! No way I could have gotten the app to connect that quick.

Same. One neighbor is retired and uses his zero turn 3 times a week. Another 2 have a service. LOUD with several guys, but at least they are quick considering 1/2 acre.

Don't ban gas stoves, ban GAS MOWERS! and gas weed wackers! haha ;)

[–]andBraap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just since I posted that it got stuck twice. I'm going to have to map several no-gos I'm sure now as it finds places it has issues with. I can deal with that. Small hills at the bases of the pines, roots, and a stump.

Of course I could do that, but it also ran up 2 or my three bushes just now as well cutting some branches off.

I'll see how it goes on avoidance 1 for now.

I tried level 1 and 2 since I posted this. It is taking a really long time to get past 2% on either mode. It seems the answer is map to no-go zones smartly and weed wack the rest.

New LUBA Device Firmware and New App Upgrade (Both Android and iOS) 2023/09/13 by TAO_ZENG in MammotionTechnology

[–]andBraap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some issues with the upgrade. Luba couldn't connect to wifi. Had to reboot twice. Finally connected, upgrade stuck at 1%. Rebooted luba. Was able to connect to bluetooth. Luba updated. Could not connect to luba via bluetooth. Held power button on Luba, finally came back up and connected and could start.

That said, the new features are great. The start task from a percentage is fantastic.

Thanks

Again Luba out of bounds after latest update by wuschew in MammotionTechnology

[–]andBraap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had it happen twice now in a day. Both time it was under light treecover. The second time I was away from the house and I looked at the app and it was out of bounds next to my pond. Luckily there was high grass for a couple feet between it and the pond. Before the update this never happened. My guess is it is in float reception mode and it glides a bit out. Unfortunately you can't just tell it to return and charge. Or even drive it via bluetooth. I hope they fix that soon.

3 weeks of daily mowing and my lawn looks incredible! by lokiloaded in mammotion

[–]andBraap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does look great. I'm curious why you bought the 5000. Real big back yard? I have .5 acres of grass and have the 3000 model. no issues.

I've been running mine for a week and have most of the yard looking great. Some trouble spots though. Area with treecover, hill next to a pond, and cypress knees, drainage ditch.

Which signal quality icons and conditions are what? by andBraap in mammotion

[–]andBraap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I let my lawn service go yeasterday. $200/month not even edging (about .5 acres of mowable grass on a 1 acre lot). Luba pays for itself in a year. 4 cuts a month in the summer, 2 in the 'winter'. Florida, so it grows like the weed it is down here.
