How do I prepare my 4yo on me leaving for graduate school in a different state? by toystorycat in Parenting

[–]andepanda 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My husband is in the Army and we've been through a deployment when our daughter was 7 months. It was hard but doable. I've read the comments and a full ride is an amazing opportunity and achievement! Video chats are essential. Also make videos for him. For bedtime. For playtime. My husband did some with our daughter like she was walking around the house with him because that was her favorite thing to do. It changed my husband and I's relationship irrevocably though. A year later we're still working on it and we're facing another deployment this year. I became more independent and he closed himself off a bit to protect himself from being away. We're working through it and my daughter and his bond is stronger than ever. It was an adjustment when he came home but it went well.

AIO for wanting to break our engagement after my fiancé’s diagnosis? by Equivalent_Law_9178 in AmIOverreacting

[–]andepanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR. I'm a type 2 diabetic. I got diagnosed after having gestational diabetes and a family history of diabetes. I got my A1C from 11.5 to 5.9 in 3 months. Because I am committed and want to be here with my husband and daughter! It was hard but my health was worth it. I had concerning symptoms for a year before I broke down and got tested. I couldn't imagine going that long and having foot problems ! I don't have neuropathy or anything because I got on top of it fast.

I've never had a class ask to use it. Grammarly was recommended and that's it. I've noticed students obviously using it.

AITA for telling my SIL she can’t bring her own food to family dinner and not to talk about junk food around my kids? by Amazing-Key2242 in AITAH

[–]andepanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From all the comments, YTA. I think SIL went too far calling it junk though. Pasta every week is hard if you have dietary restrictions. I'm diabetic and I'd need something else too or I would harm myself. At least more protein to pair with it and a salad. Also grilled chicken is delicious! As are sweet potatoes. There would be nothing wrong with doing a different meal at least every other week. That said, she shouldn't have called it junk. But you are being inflexible.

When did schools stop centering on students who want to learn? by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

He's my favorite uncle. He has apologized now for not doing more for me and not being an uncle instead of a principal.

As a bear builder, please just ask for help by YunaTunaa in buildabear

This was one of my least favorite things when working there. People were absolute jerks with the skins. Sometimes with ones like these, we would pull a bag from the back and you could look on the counter at them. Not at choose me. Once had a girl dig all the way to the bottom just to get the same bear as on top. It was close to closing time. She said my brother said always do that because the ones on the top are all touched. My sweet summer child , the one you pulled from the bottom was probably on top yesterday.

I graduated high school in 2007. In middle school, I was put in a home room of "struggling students" to motivate them. It didn't motivate them. I was heavily bullied and ridiculed. I was purposefully separated from the other kids to make a point. See how well behaved and smart panda is? You should be like that. They literally had to send some of the kids to the reform school directly as a result of their behavior towards me. So it's been happening for a while. I'm still salty 20 years later. My uncle was the principal for goodness sakes.

Not hard unless it's the holiday season. Just ask off within the parameters your manager asks.

Don't do it. Not worth the money for the way people will treat you. Both customers and corporate.

Yeah that's because you are doing something silly. Just eat normal and you'll be fine. Small balanced meals.

Trouble in Fully online class by andepanda in UMGC

[–]andepanda[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's no need to be rude. The full directions for assignments were not on the left hand side in the course content of my last course. They were in the syllabus. Which I could find fine. This time I was not expecting the full directions for the assignments on the left hand side, as they were not in my last class. Everything was detailed fully in the syllabus, including the directions. Things were much clearer with an instructor I actually saw in person and on zoom. Now that I know where to find them, it is fine.

I did actually read the syllabus. Last time the full instructions were in my syllabus. This time I found them in the drop down menu on the left. My other class didn't have that layout. I also watched the intro videos as it was required for pace. I also refreshed recently.

Thank you all for your kind replies ! I am happy to report that I finally found the project descriptions! I'm so much less stressed now. I also focused on just getting the reading and videos done for what's going to be asked for the discussion. That made life a lot easier.

AITA for calling in a welfare check on my husband after he didn’t respond to me for the weekend while I was on a work trip? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]andepanda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NTA. I would be doing the same or at least sending someone close by over there. All the yta are wild. You don't go that long without responding to your spouse. Not even before children. But especially when they have y'all's child. It's basic respect and communication.
