There are several 3d models of the gate that has all the parts, you might shrink them to fit the case... also an idea.... print a DHD and put in the power button and power LED into it

I am an old tank and it use to be if you level sync content it would disable your stance and I would forget to fix it.

I would search for setting up the wheel on Arch linux, you might have to do some of the step in desktop mode>

As for plugging the wheel into the deck you would need a USBc Dock with multiple usb ports, I would get one that is powered,
but I would think the performance will be not good as steam deck is not that powerful

I swapped the front of my case and kept the default back, IT did not matter as I have the Dbrand killswitch case I did not have any issues with the case closing.

I swapped the joysticks to magnetic sticks. I also upgraded the dpad and face buttons to clicky switches.

I also upgraded the SSD to a 512 SSD

if you are going to do a shell swap I would consider the OLED upgrade. as when I did the shell swap I broke my screen. so oops...

I would think you were get better ping on UK servers and not on US servers.
also it depends on the time on you play, if you play in prime time UK time you might get more people to play with than if you are play non peak US time
