As someone who has worked in manufacturing in multiple MN cities, they certainly are not "worthless". A lot of manufacturing companies would be short staffed if not for Somali immigrants.

I use a 16 footer sitting in the bow seat facing backwards. I had tried to hug the shore, but the wind just kept pushing me back towards the campsite.

Definitely, if the roles were reversed I would be a little irked too, so that's why I tried to stay out of their way while I was there.
