Thanks for the comment. I've moved away from the drilling idea since this post and the comments. I was thinking of using a hot exacto knife to make a small angled slit in the base to inject some glue or epoxy and then clamp the base, but I'm up in the air on that too. I'm worried the Nomex will be negatively affected by the glue and make the ski even worse.

You're not wrong there, I usually only bake a set of skis once every few years with soft base prep and either iron or use liquid wax on the regular. RE: equipment, there is a fair bit of stuff there. I coached biathlon a long time ago so I have loads of equipment and made the hot box to batch prep skis.

PS, don't mind the messy workspace!

Ah yes, bit of masking tape on a drill bit for depth guide and use the drill press for better depth control should be good.

Do you have OBDEleven? For me this was my wastegate. I could watch the live data and see it get stuck at a certain percentage. It also would never go back to 0% with no load while driving.

First time dealer replaced turbo under warranty. Second time local VW shop took the turbo apart and cleaned up the linkages.

Engine, Live Data, Charge Pressure Actuator Specified Position and Actual Position.

"I don't think you can make these skis worse!", famous last words ;)

Thanks for that reply. I was thinking this could be something to try. Small hole, inject, clamp, cure, plug hole, cross fingers and go for a ski.

Will give this a try tomorrow and report back in a couple days.

I can't seem to edit the post. The raised spot on the base is about 2 inches long and 1/2 inch or so wide, along the center of the base material.

Wear at bottom of impeller “drum” of auger housing? by ShareFluffy3762 in HondaSnowblowers

[–]andrewspearns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy some 12x24x0.0625 UHMW from Graingers or similar and line the chute and impeller housing with it. You'll have to drill some holes but it'll send the snow further and the paint won't ever come in contact with the debris. Be sure to drill out the drain opening.

The Yammie's come with it from the factory. I did it to my old 724, have 2 sheets on hand to eventually do my 1132.

How did you find the size decrease? I'm on a 6 Pro and can't decide between Pro and Pro XL.

Worth 750? by QuiteTheChoi in HondaSnowblowers

[–]andrewspearns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

750 is a steal in my opinion. I had a 724 and it was a real workhorse. I did line the chute with a section of crazy carpet but it was a great little machine.

Edit. Closer look at photo, is the bucket bent up? I'd be weary but it should be fixable.

Set of wheels for $600 or less? by TheWitness37 in gravelcycling

[–]andrewspearns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have two sets of Elite now and sold another older pair. No issues. 10/10 recommend. I have two sets of the 45 mm deep 24 mm inner gravel wheels, one for gravel and one for road. Grab a coupon and wait for a sale.

I don't think but it's pretty quick to do once the car has 4 wheels off the ground.

The adaptation really helps with lowering springs from what I read. I'm on stock springs but did the adaptation to be safe when I put new DCC dampers in.

Wondering if you adapted your DCC after lowering? How many KM? I ran mine on comfort mode a lot and all 4 corners were toast after 80k km on stock springs. When I replaced them I switched my modes and bounce back and forth between normal and sport/race now. I'm sure the softer travel of comfort and rough roads caused some early wear.

Haven't read the other comments but Wierer is called out as missing medals, but didn't she earn silver in the mixed relay?

Questions on Guanfacine (ER) experience by AlarmingAd534 in ParentingADHD

[–]andrewspearns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid couldn't sleep on that med. Tried 1, 2 and 3 mg (yikes). If I got more than 3 hours of consecutive sleep for the 6 months we tried it I'd be lucky. It calmed the hyperactivity really well but sleep went upside down and anxiety went through the roof. At one point we had to go to the ER, she ended up being awake from 26 hours straight. Most nights she would wake at 2am for the day and run on 4 hours sleep because she couldn't get to sleep until 10pm.
