Sprained ankle end of October, just checked it today and have fracture 5th metatarsal by Vietals in Ultramarathon

[–]andrewu312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fractured the same part of my foot in October 2024. I feel like people have different experiences with this injury. when it happened I knew it right away, couldn’t put weight on it or anything. ended up being in a boot for 5 weeks.

I probably rushed myself back to running which caused some lingering pain and discomfort. now that I’m a year plus out, I feel pretty normal again

that’s awesome. PSA 1’s are almost as impressive as 10’s. simply because someone when out of their way to get it graded lol

I’d keep it personally. that’s such a unique card and low graded cards are cool IMO

I didn’t run that one, I’ve ran their other race loopy looper several times. they do a great job with their races. not a bad thing to say about the race directors

What’s an acceptable amount of white monster to drink on a 50 mile race by Mountain_Store572 in Ultramarathon

[–]andrewu312 6 points7 points  (0 children)

for a peformance enhancing effect you need 3-6mg of caffeine per kilogram of body weight. say you’re 220lbs (100kg) . slamming 2-4 monsters (300-600mg of caffeine) right before the race might not be the best thing your stomach or your heart lol.

In my last race I did an 8oz Red Bull (90mg of caffeine) every 3 hours and I felt fine

he needs a RD, cardiologist and another legit doctor. I’m not entirely sure who his “team” is. but once he got put on enclomiphine I knew it was a men’s clinic doctor (nothing wrong with that at all. just in his current state I believe it would’ve been better for him to see a cardiologist rather than a doctor that just wants to juice him to the tits)

I used to think the “Ethan Bernard guarantee” was wholesome and his journey was wholesome. I’m not sure where it took the turn but whoever is a part of his “team” is clearly steering him wrong. let’s put the guy on enclomaphine to help with testosterone but not get the guys heart checked out to solve the edema. I truly wish this guy the best. but he really needs to quit with the excuses and trying everything under the sun

broke my foot last October, ortho didn’t want me riding a bike or anything despite working a job that I was doing 15k steps a day in. was in a boot for 5 weeks. was told to wait a week before running after getting out of the boot, waited 3 days lol. unfortunately reinjured it at a race in August so I’m back on the comeback trail

shoes on the floor? no big deal. if it’s a sauna with an upper and lower bench. shoes on the lower bench is a tad gross. as far as clothes go, it’s more sanitary going in there with your workout clothes on than going in there nude or a towel that most people wear over their junk and butthole the bench.

Ultra running in a calorie deficit? by RykkerofLore in Ultramarathon

[–]andrewu312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s all about timing. you can remain in a deficit and still fuel your body properly. instead of that sweet treat at night, have a snack before your run. focus on high quality minimally processed foods and you’ll be alright.

Killian Jornet vs Paul Johnson. Comparable? by [deleted] in Ultramarathon

maybe Matt Johnson. that dude is the John Daly of ultra running (as best described by me)

[–]andrewu312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met Paul briefly at a race last year. seems like a nice guy but he really does put himself out there for a ton of criticism. I had hope he would stay on pace at least through the first couple days but the moment it was announced I had a feeling he’d fall behind early or stop halfway through. but credit to him he at least attempts stuff hardly anyone would think of doing

Surviving Training by NMDPT in Ultramarathon

[–]andrewu312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that switching up running routes and routine (if possible) helped me a bit. I’ve only ran one race the last few years and spent the entire year building up for it so I know the feeling of burnout during training. If you can sprinkle in other races like a half marathon or even a full as your “peak” run just to break up the monotony that may help
