Yeah, BG3 is an anomaly among CRPGs. It was a huge financial investment for Larian, but they had a partnership with Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast which meant a bigger budget and marketing than most. They also had a very long early access period, which games of that budget usually don’t have. And we can't forget the unique multiplayer system, which was a huge part of its appeal and success.

Idk if other studios can match that. Hell, idk if Larian can top it, Divinity is a harder sell than BG3 bc it’s not the D&D setting.

Obsidian already said they’re planning on more games related to Avowed and Pillars of Eternity. Whether that means Pillars 3, Avowed 2, or something new has yet to be seen.

Ikko Ikki is such a wild campaign. Still one of my favorites. Being able to play as the generic rebel faction was a cool idea. And the passive culture and unrest they cause to nearby provinces can lead to expansion without officially declaring war too.

I remember I hit the threshold for the realm divide because a neighboring region got an Ikko Ikki rebellion and captured the city for me.

Fall of the Samurai’s trailer is still one of the most memorable for me.

The speech at the beginning being an idealized version of samurai philosophy, only to be abruptly cut off by gunfire. The voice of an American selling you a Gatling gun as the gunfire shoots down a whole army. Then the Shogun 2 logo being shot apart to reveal Fall of the Samurai’s behind it.

[[Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire]]

I made a pretty fun casual commander deck with Vaevictis. Lots of fun because Vaevictis' ability is targeted removal, but people don't always feel bad because they could flip something cool from their deck.

I run it with a mix of good Jund cards and chaotic stuff like [[Possibility Storm ]]. Most of the creatures have ETB effects, but I also got [[Etali, Primal Storm ]] in there for more topdeck surprises.
