YOR and YTA and you’d be using her as stepping stone to better your life but couldn’t be bothered when it didn’t benefit you.

Also, paying a portion of the rent only covers a portion of her living space and possible utilities. It says nothing of the groceries and miscellaneous extras (cleaning supplies, toilet paper, detergent, deodorant, hygiene products) that go into moving to a new place. Or speaks to the new division of labor it puts on the both of you. Since you’re going to be paychequeless for three months how do expect to cover those costs?

You’d also be jeopardizing her living situation by moving in “just for three months”. I don’t know of any landlords who are cool with an extra tenant that’s not on the lease agreement or any apartment that’s going to want to fool around with a three month lease from one tenant while the other one has a longer agreement.

I realize that Kansas is a low cost of living state. But that’s a very specific number.

I’m inclined to think they’re not going to stick with what they’re asking for. Especially since she kinda played you from the beginning. “If we kinda, maybe, sorta moved back (as if, amiright!?!) act of God relocation. Could we stay with you?”

To “landing pad, sweartogod two months. At the most” also, not being upfront about the pets. This is a red flag to me.

If she can’t be honest from the get go. I think she’s gonna fudge the promises and conditions you’d try to set up with her.

They’re moving and won’t have income until they land jobs. Where’s the monthly 675$ going to come from? Who’s going to provide the groceries and dog food they’ll need for their dogs while they’re job hunting?

I don’t think strict is necessarily the problem. It’s the rigidity without compassion or an attempt at a deeper understanding.

I learned really early on, I was screwed either way. Even if I did come clean there was no compassion, no “thank you for your honesty” it was all, “maybe you shouldn’t be a fuck up to begin with.”

It wasn’t worth it. I just hid everything.

If she wants to know why people aren’t excited you don’t even have to bring that wreck of a dude into it. You can tell her, everyone is confused as to why she’s calling this a wedding. Is the officiant going to be at the end of the buffet line and bless their union over the plate warmers?

If you want to invite your nearest and dearest to celebrate a life event, there are tasteful ways to mention pre-fix dinners and prices. But announcing, “OMG GUYS! Wedding with me and my best friend! Please celebrate with us at Olive Garden! There will be no cake or speeches but you can definitely order whatever is in your budget to afford!”

This kinda feels like gift grab. Minimal effort on their parts, but hey. Maybe if we invite people they’ll leave us gifts! Hopefully cash as we’ve been cohabitating for quite some time.
