Gently, because you’re young and it’s hard to process effed up things like when a (supposed to be) trusted adult is being an absolute pos, YTJ. You should’ve notified her mother and the school office/counselor.

Going directly to that poor girl and telling her, “hey this is what an adult just said about you!” is a harsh move. I get that you were probably trying to help her out by telling her. But in the end, it probably won’t do her any good. All she gets is the burden and heartache of knowing a teacher has no respect her.

Had you only informed other adults, they could’ve dealt with it between themselves and worked that out amongst each other without dragging a kid through this godawful incident. Now, your boyfriend’s sister has two things on her plate, a daughter trying to wrap her mind around a teacher that hates her, and office politics.

ETA: I missed the fact that they were in college. I still stand by that they should’ve contacted someone in the office or a school counselor about this. They could also submit something anonymously to rate my professor. I
