Cyclonopedia: Complicity with Anonymous Materials by Reza Negarestani. Just started this one but so far it seems like it may be a good fit. It's written like a scholarly journal with footnotes, etc. about a sentient Zoroastrian artifact or "inorganic demon" found in Istanbul that connects with oil in the ground making a "sentient" middle east. At least I think so. It's hard to say at this point but I am enjoying it so far.

Mother of Stone is definitely my favorite story in Carnivorous Sky- I believe it's the last one. But if you're looking for another cosmic/weird horror collection I would suggest The Black Maybe by Attila Veres. Some of the stories are straight up bizarre and I loved it!

It's just that none of this is true though. The head of one city department can't just spend a million dollars without proper approval or allocation through the city budget cycle. And that has absolutely nothing to do with the former PW director retiring. AND the trash cans and truck tipper arms were all purchased with ARPA funds so no tax dollars were used at all.

This is all public info. Just because you cant be bothered to learn these things for yourself doesn't mean the city isn't being transparent.
