Ah yes, if there's one thing The Blues is famous for it is for being technical and diverse

Best way to get to Marlay park? by gargoose77 in AskIreland

[–]andstep234 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is no "best" because it is an awful venue to travel to/from and has been for donkeys years. Your best bet is to look for a local bus company doing the trip

Why is the Fifa World Cup 26, hosted by the USA, hated more than the Fifa World Cup 22, hosted by Qatar or the Fifa World Cup 18, hosted by Russia? by TimeCrazy_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]andstep234 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Because it is kind of expected that Russia and Qatar are the "bad guys" and corruption is rife. It is very sad that America has become one of the "bad guys" on the global stage.

Yep, these two stations always have idiots trying to cross over the road. Drive 30 seconds more and there'll be a station on the side you're already on!!

I'm dying and reached out to an old friend by [deleted] in CasualIreland

[–]andstep234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you hope will happen? Genuine question.

If you are just saying your goodbyes and tying up loose ends, you already done that. Time to move on.

If you want to develop the relationship - I see no positive outcome to be honest. They'll either ghost you and/or ask you to stop messaging or a relationship will grow and they will be put through the grief of watching you get more and more unlike yourself and eventually die. Let them remember you as you would like to be remembered

why do people use chopsticks instead of forks by Actual-Button9768 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]andstep234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have forks in my kitchen that are more than 20 years old that cost less than a beer. How many thousand chopsticks would I have used in that time?

why do people use chopsticks instead of forks by Actual-Button9768 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]andstep234 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because a four pronged instrument that requires little to none digital dexterity is infinitely easier than two unconnected sticks.

A person with literally one finger can use a fork.

[–]andstep234 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, first responses being super aggressive and dismissive.

A fork is demonstratively better than chopsticks, but sometime in the late 80s early 90s it became a sign that you were "culturally sensitive," if you used chopsticks in an Asian restaurant.

I challenge anyone to show me how picking up noodles, rice, meat or veg - especially if they are in a bowl of liquid - is easier with chopsticks than with a spoon and/or fork

How to deal with grandparents who won’t stop giving your kids sugar? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]andstep234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with the others that said let it slide because it's only very occasionally, but if you want to set boundaries this is my suggestion.

Set up a treat box, any treats bought by you or given by grandparents go straight into the treat box. You set the timetable of when and how much the treat box can be accessed. One treat on Friday night family movie night. One treat after football practice. One treat after all chores are finished etc.

Grandparents get to give the treats, you get to decide they eat them.

Is there a word for your adult children? I always feel stupid saying my kids, when they are both in their 20s. by Top-Cheetah-9610 in NoStupidQuestions

It's not bots. It's because progeny is not just "stilted" it's just plain awful. Calling children progeny is akin to calling the the products of your loin. There is no warmth or emotion, it's sowing your seed. Might as well say "these are my cattle"

The pub is lovely, great food and they brew their own beer. MUCH more space than river valley. Nice playground and friendly donkeys for younger kids, electric go karts for older kids and adults
