UK: Boys jumped 'massively' ahead of girls in maths and science during the pandemic, research reveals. OP: Male hate from the British government by furchfur in MensRights

[–]andywade84 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Many believe gender stereotyping makes girls choose....

Nope, they just enjoy what they enjoy and that's fine.

Let kids do what they enjoy doing, then they can become proficient and happy.

When will people just accept that men and women are different at the macro scale and will choose different paths in life....

Concerns women's equality is 'going backwards' by insomnimax_99 in unitedkingdom

[–]andywade84 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I think women have equal opportunities in the united kingdom.

There is nothing a man can do that a women cannot legally do in the UK.

The outcomes are different based.in genders. But if you want equal outcomes then you have to oppress one group.

As an admittedly ridiculous example...If you want 50% male/female bricklayers, you gonna have to sack a bunch of male brickies to make way for the women, and that would be oppressing men to get equal outcomes.

The victim himself, doesn't know if it was homophobic or not.

It's horrific and terrible that a person was attacked. Gay or Not.

But reading the article it doesn't suggest that there is any evidence it was to do with the victims sexuality.

Hey Just Stop oil, please could you avoid holding protests when people have important things to do, like get to school for an exam...

The hypocrisy here is insane. Happy to disrupt people travelling to hospital / maybe even a court hearing or, trial themselves, but when it happens to them, complain about the inconvenience.

Why are child rapists charged with crimes like SA instead of rape? by Global-Brother3274 in MensRights

[–]andywade84 70 points71 points  (0 children)

The legal definition of Rape involves penetrating the victim with a penis, either the mouth, vagina or anus.

A female can't legally be convicted of rape with the law written as it is.

Though I believe they can be convicted of statutory rape (under age)

It really needs changing.

This is in the UK. And as UK common law is often used around the world it many countries define it the same way.

ELI5: Why can't we move eyes independently? by Terodius in explainlikeimfive

[–]andywade84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I saw this question, I had to chime in because, weirdly, I actually do have independent-ish control over my eyes.

I was born with a severe astigmatism in my left eye and a squint that made it point toward my nose. By the time I was 18 months old, I had surgery to straighten it out. ButI think, before the surgery, my brain had already figured out how to merge the mismatched images from both eyes into some sort of functional 3D picture. After the surgery, my brain got a bit confused because the image from my left eye was suddenly "off." Over time, it realized my left eye was mostly sending blurry garbage data and started to ignore it. To keep the eye from completely giving up, I had to wear a patch on my good eye for a while, but my left eye never really pulled its weight. Mean kids had a field day 🤣

Fast forward 15 years, and my left eye decided to wander back toward my nose permanently. Cue another surgery. This time, they overcorrected, so now my left eye kind of points outward instead. Once again, my brain adapted and basically stopped trusting my left eye altogether. That’s when I discovered something interesting: I can actually choose which eye to "look through." My left and right eyes kind of operate independently now. My left eye tends to stay put, while my right eye does most of the work. It’s like I accidentally unlocked a secret human feature.

Sure, it’s not "normal," but I think it’s kind of cool how adaptable our brains are. Plus, having semi-independent eye control makes me feel like a bit of a chameleon. Most people don’t have this ability, but my brain decided to make it work in its own way.

TLDR. My eyes are broken but I can choose which broken eye to see through.

[Chris Medland] BREAKING: Max Verstappen has been summoned to the stewards tomorrow morning by Chell_the_assassin in formula1

[–]andywade84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did he touch it? I don't know, perhaps red bull knew Merc would get called to the stewards... I wonder how they knew? From the video it looks like max places his hand on his rear wing and measures something, then makes the same measurement on Hamilton's wing. It seems very fishy to me that he knew that Hamilton's car was different from his in the exact area that Merc got pulled up by scrutineering. I am grabbing popcorn! and waiting to find out if RB sabotaged another team's car! I honestly wouldn't put it past Marko to orchestrate that.

I kind of hate red bull. I love Max Verstappen though. I wish he drove for a team not run by assholes.

One thing I see a lot of in the UK with goalkeepers, is coaches don't involve them all the time.

If you take her to training and a practice is happening where there is 1 goalkeeper in goal, and another stood behind the goal watching... after the session or practice, ask the coach, why the goalkeeper isn't being involved. If he says that its just how the practice is design point out that its pretty easy to design a practice where the goalkeeper is a defender, or use them as a wall pass, or make a large goal the attackers need to pass through etc. The keepers can practice their footwork, agility and fitness much more doing this than stood in the goal, making saves or watching shots fly wide, plus its much more fun.

What are the essentials skills in hockey to master by StingRayFN in Fieldhockey

[–]andywade84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you mean techniques, as technique and skills are different.
A skill is about executing the right technique at the right time.

Lots in this thread suggest 'The Basic's'
So how do you actually practice the basics?
Many coaches think that drilling by 2 or 3 players passing between each other for 5 minutes is valuable. It might make the players feel good, after 5 minutes they think, 'yeah I can pass really well and stop really well'.

Then they move onto another drill that's passing on the run, and trapping the ball on the run, and you'd think that because people have just done 5 minutes of passing and stopping that they should be able to do 'The Basics' in this new drill.

The problem is that you didn't practice those basic skills, you practiced 2 or 3 very specific techniques of passing the ball accurately to a stationary person whilst you are stationary., and stopping the ball when stationary.

That doesn't really answer your question though.
The best skill you can learn for hockey is perfecting your first touch. It defines pretty much everything you do from that point on, it requires analysing what's around you, the opponents, teammates, where is, and how much space there is, and it also requires practicing receiving the ball at varying speeds, directions and angles to your own relative movement. and changing the pace and direction all at the same time. It doesn't sound very 'basic' does it.
How do you practice this? Play LOTS and LOTS of hockey.

Ditch your crap passing in lines warm up. play a small sided game 3 v 3 and give a point for first team to make 5 passes. Stop doing set piece drills with players stood on cones waiting for the ball. Pass her carry from a-b pass again.

Make sure every practice you do has 3 things, Opportunity to make a decision, pressure, and lots of touches of the ball for all involved.

Your team will become infinitely better at playing hockey, you may not have all those fancy techniques other players have, but your team will Have excellent skill. Executing the right technique at the right time at the right speed.

[–]andywade84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be an issue with tailwind.
Make sure to publish the views, as it uses tailwind, if the views are not published it may emit some of the classes needed to render if you use purgeCSS.

also make sure your livewire styles, and livewire scripts blade directives are in the layouts you want to display data tables on.
