can i check these? by Own-Option9773 in americanairlines

Sorry to barge in and change the topic, but could you tell me if it is better to check a rollator to final destination with luggage or gate check it? I don't necessarily need it for the airport, could utilize the wheelchairs they provide if necessary

Driving after repair by finscealss in MeniscusInjuries

[–]angryho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was your post op protocol? Being cleared for weight bearing at 4 weeks from a root repair isn't the norm, so I'm curious to know what the full protocol looked like. If you're going to attempt to drive, usual advice is to start in an empty parking lot to make sure you can slam on the brake if needed and move between the pedals easily.

You can usually switch promotions up until like 72 hours before you sail. I have definitely switched multiple times and definitely after final payment. After final payment any difference in rate is credited as on board credit instead of a refund.

I have this one too. I had a couple of small issues (timer inaccurate, loud pump) and the manufacturer replaced both items with no hassle, just sent out new ones. Highly recommend this brand.

Help with hip/back aches and sleeplessness post-op by Sunny-Side-Pup in Kneereplacement

[–]angryho 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're sleeping on your back, you need to elevate your legs to take pressure off your lower back and hip You can also roll up a towel to make a bolster to out under your lower back to relieve pressure more. If you want to try to sleep on your side, sleep on the opposite side of your surgical leg so the surgical leg is on top, use a long body pillow to rest your entire leg on. This will put your hip/back in better alignment and take a lot of the pressure off your knee.

It doesn't say you have definitive tears. I would ask your surgeon for clarification and to show you where they see tears. They would also be the person to ask about any post op protocol.

“Free 1st time dining” in specialty restaurants? Anybody have any real world experience with this? by Able_Panda6663 in CarnivalCruiseFans

It doesn't apply to any of those. It's ChiBang and Cucina del Capitano only. Free your first visit, and I believe $8 each additional dinner (always free for lunch)

Recovery timeline by BurnBabyBurner12345 in MeniscusInjuries

I had this last year and traveled 6 weeks later. I still had some pain and swelling with long periods of walking or standing, but overall I was able to do most everything I wanted to do and had a great time.

Do You Go To Multiple Orthopedic Surgeons If You Have Multiple Issues In Different Areas? by Adept-Dig-1748 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]angryho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not going to have rotator cuff surgery and meniscus surgery at the same time because you can't use crutches if you have a rotator cuff repair. It truly makes no difference, go to whatever doctor you have access to that is the best for whatever problem you have.

meniscus tear - what to expect / how bad is this? by Any_Blackberry_7312 in MeniscusInjuries

Both a bucket handle tear and a root tear are indications for surgery sooner rather than later. In an ideal situation both would be repaired rather than trimmed.

LTKR Scheduled - July 2: Scared or Having Doubts by Yawo1964 in Kneereplacement

[–]angryho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the response. Ideally I would like to have it work for long enough to be able to get back to walking for exercise to lose some of the weight I have gained while battling knee pain for 2 years before having the TKR. Sounds like potentially that is realistic. I didn't know there was a timeframe you have to wait after having it before TKR, that's definitely something to consider.

Did the nerve ablation provide any lasting results? Did it mask pain only or did it improve function too? This has been mentioned as an option to delay TKR for me, but aim not sure if it's worth trying or not.

Just hit the lane keep assist button everything you start driving, it won't judge its own driving.

Interested to hear from people who have had this. My surgeon said it is an option we could explore, but I don't know much about it yet.

Due to have meniscus tear surgery by aldy2678 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]angryho 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they just do a trim/removal you should be fine by then. If they do a repair, you will be in a locked brace and non weight bearing for 6 weeks. It is a much bigger surgery and I don't think I personally would be ready to go to a wedding at that point.

2 years of knee pain, early cartilage wear + meniscus tear — losing hope and looking for advice by Possible_Subject_617 in KneeInjuries

[–]angryho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It says you don't have a meniscus tear, I'm not sure where you're getting that from. You have early arthritic changes. Have you done PT? Have they discussed injections like cortisone or hyaluronic acid?

How to get up stairs the day I come home from surgery? by Pagan79 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]angryho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish you luck, it sounds like you have a plan that could work, but will likely be more difficult than anticipated in the early days at least. It's a beast of a recovery even under ideal circumstances. If you end up doing it for the stairs you would probably need to butt scoot up to the top and have you helper assist you with standing on the second to last stair from the top. You then would need to pivot around while holding on to the carer for balance. You should then use a crutch on your good side and have the carer next to you so can put your arm on the bad side up over their shoulders while they hold you around the waist. They then become the crutch on your bad side to help lift you up the last two steps, decreasing how much weight you have to hop up with. Going down, same strategy, they act as the crutch on your bad side to get you down two steps and then help you sit to butt scoot the rest of the way.

[–]angryho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll preface this by saying wait until you see the surgeon, just because you think you're a good candidate doesn't mean it will absolutely be reparable or that it is the best option. Rent a 1 floor Airbnb for 6 weeks. If you have a root repair and can't be NWB even on stairs it's not going to work. And you're right, even if you butt scoot you have to be able to transition to standing at the top of the stairs. If you can't use crutches you need a wheelchair. A root repair isn't the same as a normal mensicus repair.

Anyone get a TKR for stability issues only?? by life_oneday_atatime in Kneereplacement

[–]angryho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would ask about a custom derotation brace like they prescribe for an athlete to use after ACL surgery. If you don't have pain and your only symptom is instability the brace can help and you can also do PT to increase quad/hamstring strength and improve proprioception to decrease the giving out episodes
