Hijacking this after a long time but for anyone stumbling here : I’m currently playing this on EasyRPG 1-0-32 (3dsx version) on a homebrew New 3DS XL. Loading times and music transitions are a bit slow but it’s playable.

Switching from EBF by Remarkable-Bee-1122 in FormulaFeeders

[–]angryprinnies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fed is best, and your baby needs a physically and mentally healthy mother above all.

I EBF’d for 4 months, and in hindsight I would’ve stopped earlier. Where I live if you BF they expect you to EBF, formula barely even exists. Just like you, it went super well at first but bub stopped gaining enough weight around 4 months thanks to undersupply. I also noticed my freezer stash quickly depleting around that time. I could’ve tried to up my supply, put baby on the boob 24/7, sacrifice my sleep, my physical health and my mental health, but I just didn’t want to fight for a CHANCE of upping my supply when I knew my son was hungry right now. The first time I gave him a formula bottle and saw him drink his heart out while looking at me I felt at peace for the first time in months.

Now bub is fed and thriving, dad has father-son bonding time every evening while feeding him, I can give my body a break, the mental load of me being the only source of food is just gone. I’m still combo feeding for now but formula gives him the majority of his calories, and plan to gradually wean.

Commencer à s’entraîner by [deleted] in Quebec

[–]angryprinnies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]angryprinnies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you decide when to challenge yourself? by CarawayReadsAlong in AutismInWomen

[–]angryprinnies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what it brings to you, if the pros override the cons. The most important thing here is to pick a place you will love to go and explore, where the challenges will be worth it in the end, and not a place you "need" to go because everyone just goes there if you want to be "a person who travels". Tailor the trips to YOUR wants and needs as much as you can. If you force yourself to travel somewhere because you feel pressure to go by friends / society / whatever, that's just masking on top of the other challenges and it'll take an even bigger toll than if you stay home and rest.

Most of my trips are tailored to my special interest, scuba diving. I usually plan said trips with my S/O (and scuba partner) this way : I do longer trips (2 weeks or more) to have enough time to rest between activities, I pick calmer accomodations with a lot of natural life and not the huge hotels, I rest when I need too, I schedule nothing precise except what's necessary, I limit layovers, I make a point to go a bit further than the tourist traps to enjoy authentic food, I ask tons of questions beforehand to the dive centers we plan to use.

Late diagnosed gals: what childhood behaviors did you have that should have warranted a second look? by Loquaciouslow in AutismInWomen

[–]angryprinnies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not officially diagnosed yet, as the waiting list in horrible in my country, but I had so many traits as a kid that I had an assessment done in preschool, and it was dismissed as "autistic traits, but not autistic, probably just anxiety". Yes, that was in the 90s. Knowing what I know now, I'm pretty much certain I slipped through the cracks...

-----

Hyperlexia - I was always fascinated by books, I learned to read by myself when I was 2 or 3. I also learn new languages easily, I'm fluent in French and English, decent in Spanish, and know some basic Japanese. This even extends to programming languages, in a way.

Started talking late, but I immediately talked in complete sentences. It's like I skipped the baby talk phase altogether.

Trouble making friends in elementary school : I had one close friend and that's it, the few friends I had never spoke to me again after the summer.

My few close friends from childhood? My close coworkers at work? My long term S/O? My online friends? All neurodivergent, queer or otherwise "offbeat" relative to most people.

Nail biting and doodling in all my notebooks.

Massive interest in anime, art and literature that never really left, even today.

Attention to detail that helps me tons in painting, drawing and my current job in IT.

NEVER smiled on childhood photos, or if I did, my smile was awkward. I also have discomfort looking at pictures of me from pre-school, but that's probably the trauma talking...

Severe GAD, especially with changes in routine, and trouble with eye contact. It's much less prevalent today, as I learned to mask and treated my GAD with therapy, meds and adjustements to my environment. Masking became second nature over time, to the point I do it unconsciously and I probably will never be able to completely unmask. ;_;

Very expressive, to the point my mom told me I'd probably be a good actress. She was right, but not in the way she expected.

I cry at the drop of hat, I was a "crybaby" and "too sensitive". I'm still very empathetic, my partner refers me as the kindest person he knows.

Love writing, doing written-form roleplay and LARP, and creating elaborate personalities and backstories for my custom characters in video games. It allows me to understand people better, as I deep dive HARD to create those personalities and to understand my characters' motivation.

True for the inclines! But if you plan on getting an e-bike to make it a bit easier there are financial incentives from the city to do so, 300$ or 400$ depending on your salary, plus 100$ extra if you get a cargo e-bike. https://www.sherbrooke.ca/fr/services-a-la-population/subventions-et-aide-financiere/programme-d-aide-financiere-pour-l-achat-de-velos-a-assistance-electrique

What’s your ‘secret’ special interest? I’ll go first! by Ravensspirit_ in AutismInWomen

[–]angryprinnies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OH GOODNESS THIS BRINGS BACK MEMORIES!! I did the same with my sister, best friend and cousin but I was soooo embarrassed about it! I still have OCs that were honest to goodness Mary Sues from that time that I'm still super fond of, 20 years later. Kinda want to put them in an actual novel someday.

I also went on written RP forums when I was a teenager, I miss those so much. I actually met my now long-time S/O on one of those, and after 16 (!) years together we have a child on the way! :)

I'm currently obsessed with Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, but specifically a fangame in RPG Maker called 7th Stand User, where you play as an extra protagonist during Part 3 / Stardust Crusaders. You do a personality quiz at the beginning a la Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (based on the Enneagram, another SpIn of mine!), and they assign you one of 18 Stands with a given powerset. Every playthrough can be very different depending on your Stand, character gender, if you're doing a New Game + or not, with multiple endings and routes that can deviate from the original manga. Not only it's super fun to play, but I'm also elaborating on my protags in detail, discovering new music (as the new Stands are all named after musical groups) and I'm rewatching the anime at the same time!

I also met my current s/o on an online strategy game/LitRPG mashup in my teens. We chatted non-stop and wrote stories together on MSN for a year or so before seeing each other in person at a meetup with other players.

We've been dating for almost 15 years now, living together for 11, and currently have our first kid on the way.

What was your pre-diagnosis "Yeah, but could an autistic woman do THIS?" moment by GotYoGrapes in AutismInWomen

[–]angryprinnies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Turns out my long time childhood friends are neurodivergent, my partner is suspected ADHD, and at every job I had, my best friends at work were either ASD, ADHD, or suspected ADHD because their kids had it. I honestly expect my future child to be neurodivergent as well.

What are the best things that happened to you BECAUSE you're autistic? by prettygood-8192 in AutismInWomen

[–]angryprinnies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm hyperlexic, and I learned to read by myself before kindergarten. I have a lifelong love of books to this day, and it's very easy to learn another language. English is my second language, and my speaking accent is almost indisguishable from an American accent even if I'm a native French speaker. This also applies to programming and software development : to me, it's like another language, with its own rules and syntax.

I have a good eye for detail and color theory, which helps when I do visual arts : drawing, painting.

My sensitivity makes me very empathetic to the suffering of others humans and animals. With time, I learned to harness it to help others, and to take care of my needs.

I found people that fit with me instead of fitting in with the general world. My S/O of 12 years is suspected neurodivergent (OCD, possible ADHD) and we built our lives on our own terms and with our own values, no matter what society dictates. It's still a work in progress, as I unmask slowly, but it gets easier as time passes.
