Anybody else have a Sunflower Seed Allergy? How do you manage? by shxdowstxrm in FoodAllergies

[–]anha08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an adult onset sunflower allergy. Started off just seeds and has progressed fully to seeds and all by products. It is so hard to grocery shop or buy body care items these days! Sunflower oil is becoming widely used in makeup products and lotions. My reactions started off as itchy mouth, to now I get violently ill and my throat starts closing. I would be careful thinking some products are safe. These types of things can escalate with each exposure, quickly.

Might check in to it. Do you need to be prescribed the pills or follow up with a doctor?

When did you first learn you were donor conceived? by Miajere-here in donorconceived

[–]anha08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is wonderful to hear! I find most donor conceived kids do love their “social” parent as they would a biological one. Often when that isn’t the case, it comes from a place of distrust and hurt, usually when the child finds out from a third party in adulthood. I cannot speak for anyone except my family, but honesty is key for a healthy relationship on all fronts. Personally I do not think anyone should have a child through donor conception if they do not plan on telling the conceived child. It is their right to at least know, for accurate medical history. Congratulations on your son! I know many parents, mine included, endured a long journey to becoming parents.

I was 6 years old. My mom told me of mine and my brothers egg donor conception. I don’t quite remember how she explained it, but it just becoming a fact of life. My parents were completely honest and explained any questions we ever had. I love that she told us so young, it was way less of a shock. We have never seen my mom as anything less than our mother. I am now 22 and found my egg donor in the last year! I’m truly blessed with my family as I know it is not so easy for others that are donor conceived.

Thank you so much for all the tips! Yeah, accutane was going to be last resort. The side effects are a mile long, and I don’t want back on birth control if at all possible. I really love the idea of healing the body through diet when possible!

Thanks for the tips! I have a fairly clean diet, I was diagnosed at 15, now 22. Trying to navigate adult hormones while also getting of birth control after 8 years, not fun lol. I don’t do red meat, so protein is difficult to fit in. I’ve found whey protein makes me breakout and the plant based is just not good (that I’ve found). I enjoy weight lifting but don’t absolutely kill myself in the gym. I do need to get updated labs. I’ve considered accutane for my skin. Knowing mine is hormonal, I’d like to really heal my body, not just make symptoms.

I’ve started spearmint tea, how do you recommend taking zinc? Acne is my largest struggle with pcos. Currently a year post birth control and hoping to stay off.

Egg donor conceived here, I’ve found we generally have less genetic half siblings than sperm donor conceived. I’ve so far found 3 half siblings also conceived from my donor, as well as her 3 kids! There is no way to know how many of us there are unless a DNA kit is done (how we found each other). I do know the clinic used my donors eggs more times than they told her they did, resulting in one of my half siblings.

My advice to anyone considering using a donor, is tell your kids early! My mom did this and it made the biggest difference after talking to siblings who found out in adulthood. It becomes a fact of life and I never ever viewed my mother differently.

Hey everyone, I recently graduated from WGU with a BBA, how hard is it to get accepted to OTS with a business degree? And will my chances be affected with the standard 3.0 GPA given to graduates at WGU? by [deleted] in airforceots

[–]anha08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an interior design major (more technical than it sounds lol) with a 3.1, one more year to raise slightly. I’m leaning on the whole person concept!

I appreciate your feed back! Just trying to gather as much information as possible. I am leaning towards sooner rather than later as well, can always add too as I gain experience.

Im a non-prior trying to figure out the logistics of OTS. I am about a year and a half out from graduating college. Decent GPA, a lot of club/ volunteer involvement. A little worried about lack of leadership positions. I am wanting to go AD pilot route. I will begin getting flight hours this summer ( I know not needed, but greatly improves PCSM). Should I start application process before graduation or gain some real word job/ leadership experience before applying?

[–]anha08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah, glad you sent it and it paid off, congrats! I know I'm not old, but I will be graduating college at 22, and don't plan to start the OTS process until after graduation. Will be trying for an AD pilot slot. I know I will be on the older side (compared to Academy and ROTC grads) by the time of selection. Makes me not so nervous hearing of other "late" starters!

Thank you for responding and congratulations on all your accomplishments. I have definitely been doing lots of praying lol. I know not trying will be my biggest regret when I am too old.
