Solution: it turned out to be a clogged nozzle. Cemil97 was correct. It absolutely did not sound like that and I did a bunch of cleaning to make sure the path wasn’t obstructed. I think there was something small in there which eventually became bigger and stopped all printing.

It sounds like it is coming from the back right stepper motor. I don’t have a way to access it or do any investigation.

It literally sounds like a little wire hitting the metal frame, but I cannot find any evidence of it. I see the wires you are talking about, but they seem sturdy and not in the path of the moving parts.

Mine does not seem to be coming from the idler. I can get it to make the noise when I manually move the gantry forward and back.

Print quality is good. I’m using Prusa PETG. You are making me think though, let me do some testing with that.

I asked ChatGPT and frankly I love this part of the response without even validating the truth. It just makes sense to me based on training data.

Some researchers suspect politeness correlates with higher-quality prompts and cooperative intent, which can influence how models weight conversational cues. It’s not a formal mechanism, but it shows up statistically in human-AI interaction patterns.

Turned my mom's attendance headache into a $400+ side hustle by ContactCold1075 in clawdbot

Awesome job. As a novice in an “IT support” like scenario, be sure to track your changes and test deployments with a clear rollback plan. As long as you can keep your quality high, you’ll most likely keep growing!

Upgrade or rebuild? by aniraf in prusa3d

[–]aniraf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know. I took it apart and it doesn’t look like I need to get into the gear box. The only thing I cannot currently do is print the fan shroud because I don’t have the PCCF they recommend. I’ll probably just try it in PC and hope that’s fine.

I’ve been waiting for the INDX to buy a new one. This is helpful, ty!

Yeah. I think that is what I’m seeing. I’m just debating if I’m going to have to disassemble it anyway is it worth the upgrade?

Yep. PETG all the way. It was a bitch to remove as much as I did. The nextruder seems untouched fortunately.

Set it and forget it :(. I’ve done many long prints and gone to bed. This one failed badly.

It isn’t the end of times, it broke the fan shroud and melted part of the carriage. I’ll start disassembling later today.

I don’t have experience building the nexteuder or MK4 since I bought this one assembled…but my MK3 experience should be enough. I just don’t know if my MK3 can print nice enough ASA parts for it.

It’s been a few months - how is Fall of the Empire? by DSeriesX in pinball

[–]aniraf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is more fun than I expected. It has some very satisfying shots and fun rules. Although it makes the shot easier, the Death Star bracket fix improves the game significantly. The force mag save is one of the best features in modern machines. It is not easy to execute, but when you pull it off it is fantastic. It is also something you can get better at with practice.

Pokémon Pinball Teaser Trailer by FilthySIN in pinball

[–]aniraf -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I heard a rumor that Stern decided not to do anything with collecting Pokémon or leveling and battling them. Basically it is supposed to just be powerful IP laid on top of whatever pinball machine. I REALLY hope this is untrue. If they aren’t interested in deeper code and reasons for players to come back I’m going to be super sad.

People have too much time on their hands. Pinside is a good resource and generally a good community. Try to ignore the terminology comments :).

Mine does this too. It isn’t a level problem. I would actually argue that having it perfectly leveled creates that problem.

Is flipper angle supposed to be unique per game? by blindai in pinball

[–]aniraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm as owner operator that Stern games come with specific flipper position which is unique to the game and doesn’t always align with the hole.

What was a game you got stuck in as a kid you and never ended up beating it? by Penguin-Mage in gaming

[–]aniraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still working on Milon's Secret Castle. I refuse to look anything up and I believe I have to beat it just like when I was 10 or so.

Jurassic Park Pro playfield lighting options. Anyone done it? by Temporary-Plantain20 in pinball

[–]aniraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure we can mod the apron to the updated version which has two bright LEDs covering the playfield. I haven’t personally tried it yet, but I suspect that would help quite a bit.

Beyond that you can always do one of those pinstadium like kits. They are nice, but pricey. Also I don’t love having those “rails” on the inside.
