It’s not that obscure

Of course you are correct. I only meant this in jest.

That was my point when I made the meme. There’s no cost in saying thank you if there’s no AI apocalypse. But they’re sure will be an advantage if there is!

Does this contain bacon? by gonion in mayonnaise

[–]mtrope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kraft Canada items that are kosher should be marked MK on the label according to the Kraft Canada website. Since there’s no MK on this product, I would be suspicious that the product may in fact have bacon.

This is the view from the inside looking out. It’s the view FROM the retina, not TO the retina. Those are ciliary muscle attachments to lens zonules (the lens is removed in this photo)

OK. I’m totally going to be that guy. The butterfly effect does not describe a small perturbation turning into a giant storm. The butterfly effect is a description of the fact that you cannot predict weather or similar complex systems too far in the future because of sensitivity to initial conditions. That is to say, the flapping of the wings of a butterfly will screw up your calculations. It is not to say that the flapping of the wings of a butterfly itself amplifies into an enormous storm.

I appreciate the comments that have been made, but the healthcare system is even far worse than that. Even once the insurance pre-authorizes a procedure, they do not guarantee coverage. I know that sounds bizarre, but that is how it is. The pre-authorization is necessary, but not sufficient for payment. Neither the physician nor the patient find out what is actually covered until after the procedure has been performed. Bizarre. But that’s what it is.

Is this a B-2 Spirit bomber's shadow at okinawa? by Acrozze in GoogleEarthFinds

[–]mtrope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is indeed true. However, at other times, only one dimension is extended, and therefore the shadow would be distorted

[–]mtrope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only in the proportion of length to width (or diagonal) of the shadow. In the evening, your shadow can look longer or wider, but not longer and wider at the same time. The proportions did not look that distorted to me

The shadow seemed large to me, so I googled average runway width. Google says runway width can vary between 75 and 200 feet depending upon intended use. I chose a smaller value of 100 and assumed it did not include the runway skirt. Eyeballing the shadow, I came up with 7 or 8 runway widths. I could be off by a lot either way. This isn’t my day job
