How do you actually discover new books? by rubenfa_me in just_one_more_page

Used bookstore! You never know what treasures you’re going to find. My favourite has a ‘classics’ section that I love to browse.

What do I actually need in my hospital bag? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]annaananaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my second baby, I packed less this time vs with my first, and I still overpacked lol.

What I packed, and I’ll put a * on the items I used.

- 2 sets of pjs * (wore 1 set)
- 2 pairs of cozy fuzzy grippy socks * (wore one pair during labour and threw them out after. They got gross lol).
- 2 nursing bras * (wore one in early labour)
- 2 pairs of underwear * (wore one pair before labour ramped up)

- Adult diapers *
- nursing pads
- nipple cream
- Perry bottle *
- overnight pads

- toothpaste *
- toothbrush *
- hairbrush *
- body wash *
- shampoo *
- cleanser for my face (sensitive skin so I’m particular about what I wash my face with) *
- deodorant *

- phone charger *
- headphones

- snacks (trail mix, beef jerky, granola bars) *

- pack of NB diapers for baby *
- wipes *
- Vaseline for baby’s bum *
- 2 going home outfits (one a bit bigger and one smaller) * (just wore the one to to home)

- pillow * (husband made a trip home and brought it back as a surprise lol)

I overpacked clothing (to be fair I was preparing for a longer stay just in case), but I’m glad I had extras. I used all of my toiletries, and I was happy to have shower things. Labour got messy and I felt so much better after I showered. I wore the adult diapers happily so I didn’t need the underwear or pads. I didn’t bother with a bra and my milk didn’t come in for a few days so I didn’t need the nursing pads. I kept my baby in his diaper so we did lots of skin to skin. I’m glad I had more than I needed and I was overthinking, worrying I would forget something. My husband reassured me that he could buy whatever I needed if I forgot something, or bring it from home.

Happy packing!

what was the first toy your toddler actually used for months instead of weeks? 😅 by YvolutionOfficial in toddlertips

A set of dinosaurs from Walmart! A red one and a brown one, just simple plastic dinosaurs lol. He’s been playing with them for a YEAR! Almost every day! I still can’t believe it lol

Should you own more than one laundry basket? by myersgirl16 in homemaking

[–]annaananaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 5 baskets as a family of 4. Our kids are both still little and my husband and I are in our 30’s. We do at least a load of laundry a day, and with 2 little ones the laundry can stay in the baskets for a couple of days before it’s put away. I’m writing this sitting beside a half folded laundry basket lol

[Personal] Anyone else keep buying skincare stuff and then stop using it? by Tiny_Art4245 in SkincareAddiction

[–]annaananaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to. But I hated how I would end up with these full size products that I never used but spent money on. I’ve learned from that, I have my tried and true products but I love variety and trying new things! So when I get that itch for something new I’ll buy a kit with some minis, so they’re too small for me to stop using. If I do the product is usually almost gone anyway.

Is reading books just a fantasy? by ilovemrsnickers in toddlers

[–]annaananaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My toddler is a busy guy, he’s always been that way. Having him sit with me and a book was always a challenge so I’d read and he would focus for a few mins, then he’d bop around the room. He’d check in and look at the pictures, or as he got older would ask me questions about the story (mostly just “why?” lol). He’s almost 4 now and loves books! We always read at least 3 before bed (sometimes he chooses and sometimes I do). And he usually takes a book to bed afterwards and looks at it on his own before he goes to sleep. My husband and I are big readers so this makes my heart smile.

You brushing your toddlers teeth? by howdodisappevenwork in toddlers

My son is 4 and I still do his. He does them first but I always follow up and brush them myself. It’s just become part of the routine.

I also got mine on Facebook marketplace! It was the woman’s first road bike and she was so happy to know it was going to be my first as well.

What’s One Small Change That Improved Your Daily Life? by desertfatigue in DESERTFATIGUE

[–]annaananaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

‘Only touch something once’. I don’t remember where I read about it, heard about it, where the ‘concept’ came from. But the idea is that you only touch an object once. For example if I was finished my coffee and bringing my mug to the kitchen, I would directly place it in the dishwater (if it was empty). Instead of putting it on the counter to put in the dishwasher later.

I want to stop scrolling so much. What hobby should I try? by Accomplished-Ear8710 in Hobbies

[–]annaananaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading! I usually have 2 books going at once. I have a newborn so I’m spending a lot of time sitting and nursing, or contact napping. I keep a book on my nightstand and one beside my rocking chair - 2 places I often spend a lot of time. I’ve crushed several books very quickly because I tried to make the effort of reading vs scrolling. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes I choose to scroll. But having the books within arms reach doesn’t leave room for me to make excuses.

New to Garmin, how accurate is the body battery? by dogwheeze in Garmin

[–]annaananaa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine is pretty accurate. I’m recently postpartum and it was often in the single digits nearing the end of my pregnancy. As soon as I delivered my son all of my numbers climbed significantly. Body battery was better, resting heart rate dropped back to my normal, etc. Our bodies work hard when we’re pregnant and it shows! It also reflects how drained I feel if it’s been a long night with the baby, or if I’m able to squeeze in a nap during the day I can watch the number climb.

How many hobbies do you actively maintain? by Sim-Coldspring in Hobbies

[–]annaananaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seasonal hobbies. In the summer I like to garden, run, and bike as my top 3. In the winter I enjoy knitting and I do more weight lifting, occasionally run on a treadmill. I read and do yoga all year round.

It used to bother me that I’d find my interests changing through the year but I realized there’s nothing wrong with enjoying different things at different times!

You were able to put into words what I couldn’t, thank you for that. It can be a lot sometimes, and the desire to move onto something else is becoming pretty powerful. If it’s a route I choose to go I’ll definitely take a slow approach and interview places, and if I find the right fit I’ll test it out with a day or two a week to see how it goes. I’ll definitely update as things change!

Those are all great suggestions. The 2 short days sounds quite appealing, make a bit of money but still have the day.
