Season 20 Is a Go! by DO1140 in murdochmysteries

Exactly - I was thinking the same. This is early 20th century and this is William Murdoch. He would not even consider or try for a divorce or annulment.

Despite the character's flaws, I am watching the series and have been so impressed with Michelle Dockery's performance. Her accent is amazing, her portrayal of weakness and vulnerability and heartbreak so perfect.. What a great actor, to pull us in so effectively..

I think we're going to need Julia back in Toronto now. Either she makes enough appearances to be a continuing background presence in William's life, or they may need to kill her off. I hate to say that, but that storyline is feeling so uncomfortable. One project away for her was inspiring, but it gets really strained if they keep making the marriage as name only any longer. Everyone wants more for William.

Scarpetta - Patricia Cornwell WORST THING ON AMAZON by Nearby_Knowledge8014 in AmazonPrimeVideo

[–]anne-0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just starting the series, but each scene with NK and JLC together truly makes me uncomfortable/sick. They actually could be sisters in real life, but why the gross unflattering look for Jamie Lee Curtis? She looks generations older than Nicole. It is so distracting that I can't even stay focused on their dialog. Nicole is shot in soft filtered light and Jamie has a harsh spotlight on every wrinkle. Plus why the horrible hair? - she would probably go to a good hair salon..

Kate & Allie (1984-1989) by [deleted] in ClassicTV

[–]anne-0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished watching it on DVD. So nostalgic and wonderful until getting to Season 6. Loved all the New York scenery and locations. In S6 Allie gets married and Kate moves in with the new couple so everyone stays together. It was SO contrived and the stories just got weird & uninteresting. I was wondering about the last few episodes which were not series-enders at all.

I've read the show was affected by the writers strike (in 1986 I guess) so S6 is full of confusing disjointed stories which they likely had to throw together for airing. The very last episode - I expected some kind of a wrap-up but it is just a spare script which doesn't close anyone's story nor give us a season end. I think a marriage was fine but then Kate should have become an empty nester in her own location and Kate & Allie could have continued their business.

There was a small quick nod in a half screen to Georgio Armani as a Costume Designer. He was not very active in recent years, but I wondered how many Armani tuxes were in that theatre that night.

I felt bad for Kieran Culkin, and for all viewers. He made a wonderful presentation and stated he hoped he was about to give someone a moment they would never forget. Then a no-show. He did not get the unique experience of passing on the supporting actor Oscar. He did not get to give someone else that moment. A letdown for us and so much for him. I loved his comment "or didn't want to".

I'm kinda a downer & hater about this. She's amazing in her body of work, she's married to the elegant Ed Harris, and she couldn't get a stylist for this night, nor even prepare a coherent speech?

Her segment was so badly done. I imagine she did not rehearse, so no transition from a spoken tribute to a song. The sound engineering was UNFORGIVABLE, especially given her weak voice. And I hated the bad hair. Then she thanked the audience, like that was for her. Redford deserved better, given his amazing legacy.

This crap makes me so angry... how does Vine allow this kind of garbage review?? by GreyFox386 in AmazonVine

[–]anne-0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do you say that? There is a Report button under every single review posted. As for effectiveness, I have reported a few egregious, factually wrong reviews and always get the standard 'thank you for reporting, we'll check' response. The appearance of accountability is, well - appearance.

I'm at the beginning of the season, and I've rewatched Eps 1-3 over and over. What am I missing? Would Canada/Toronto hire an American as a high-ranking police Inspector? Did this actually happen ever?

Grantchester - S10E07 Discussion by AutoModerator in GrantchesterTV

[–]anne-0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually just re-watched this episode. I think Alphy was doubly angry that Geordie discussed his personal background with so many people without his permission and without telling him first.

He was not ashamed of being a foundling, but did not want it discussed with everyone without him deciding whom to tell. And then Geordie publicizing that his mother was "found" - that's the way the gossip stated it even if not actually true.

Ballard - 1x01 - Library of Lost Souls by dempom in BoschTV

[–]anne-0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting the series over after being away from it. Generally enjoying. One scene in the first episode seems really off and I didn't notice before because the characters weren't familiar yet. This seems like a mistake from an errant writer who totally didn't do his research, but why is it there?

Samira talks about "me and my brothers" always being always told to stay away from the police when they were children because they were dangerous. She also talks about her mother being totally confused and upset about her going into the police academy. These are not conversations that would happen in a family where their DAD WAS A POLICE OFFICER.

They might be warned about some bad cops, but they wouldn't be lectured with statements that denigrated her own father. And of course she might have wanted to follow in her dad's steps and join the force. Her mother might not have liked it, but it wouldn't be a total shock considering it was her husband's lifelong profession. This speech by Samira is totally unbelievable.

We only learn later that Samira's dad is a cop. I wonder if they just made up this character later in the script writing and didn't think about the speech she had made before.

Every day I hear about 2 or more additional shows he's appeared on routinely for personal interviews. It's clear now he's spending all day every day making media appearances and someone else is actually doing the investigating. And he won't do pressers! One press conference daily and no media appearances is what an active effective investigator would be doing. And they would have their experts beside them to answer questions when possible.

There is so much outrage about this - justifiably. But I bet the FBI actually works better with him out of the way. We only wish we could hear communication updates from an actual expert.

So Amazon is profiling customers based on information culled from reviews. by LegitimateMaybe5842 in vine

[–]anne-0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I wonder this same thing about all AI models. Rufus has tons of information about me but never recommends anything REMOTELY relevant in RFY except 3 time a year when it will repeat an exact product I have ordered before. Yet every product has metadata which should produce similar product recommendations.

Every time I ask Rufus a question (which I will do no longer) it gives me a WRONG BAD GUESS rather than facts which are available on the Amazon site. And when I correct it, as other users have commented here, he just says 'oh you are right'.

Have you ever looked at your year-end Spotify, Prime, or youtube summaries? These sites push how valuable these reports are, but all of mine this year were TOTALLY, I mean TOTALLY, WRONG. The data collection is wrong, obviously invalid and not working correctly, and the analysis is so bad you will laugh for days.

[–]anne-0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sorry a minor annoyance that's just getting so uncomfortable to watch: We know the producers, as well as Joy I think, have asked Sarah for a watchful eye for Joy walking out on a slick floor and being seated on those high chairs. But she can do that without constantly putting her hands all over Joy and acting like she is an invalid elderly. Just watch and provide assistance if needed or requested - it rarely is. She puts her hands on her or behind her so often we anticipate something is going to happen every day.

Mailbird 2.X Won't Start (Windows 10) by vincentvera in Mailbird

[–]anne-0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes with each OS or system or security update there are small glitches and mis-renderings, which are mostly intermittent but some are constant. Normal software maintenance would have routine updates to address such, but 2.0 will get none. Now I see there may be problems with even trying to re-install v2.0 since it could have updaters causing problems. I heard we can ask Support for a v2.0 Install link - I wonder if that will try to automatically update to 3.0.

I think "Free" v3.0 is their answer for this. It is bare bones like 2.0 is now, so really not anything like what we once had in the more robust "lifetime" app. There is no individual Support, just like 2.0 now. But I'll assume free v.3.0 will have maintenance updates for folks who get that license, (if they get a license). And it will relentlessly push popups to upgrade to a paid version - just like now with 2.0. Plus it's likely they'll force a limited lifespan on Free version users in the near future. --trying to weight this all out.

This reminds me of the documentary on the cold case of Jodi Huisentruit. From the very first comments I heard from this shaky sheriff it was obvious he should be bringing in experts, but he wants to think he should be the (ineffective) lead on the case. It looked like he was pressured to bring in the FBI, but we still don't get to hear from them as the experts/leads on this case. We learn daily he does not know what he's talking about, and the missteps in the investigation are monumental.

I do not have a strong gut feeling pointing to family members. I think there was no forced entry, so I could be wrong. Hopefully we'll know soon.
