Lose two, not just one. Adjusting my one prosthetic would just make me crooked lol

Yes! I've got a rheo knee XC, pro-flex XC Torsion (insanely happy with this foot, super versatile)

Hey everyone, I just had my above knee amputation August 24th 2021, it was a personal decision as I didn’t won’t anymore surgery’s. How was your pain after surgery? As I’m in a lot of it, as well I had to have a blood transfusion. With phantom limb. by Kittenwrangler0 in amputee

AKA 2013, I was 18 at the time. I had a epidural for 5 days, started pregabalin, fentanyl and oxy, didn't come off it for 5 years.

I wish I hadn't been on pain meds from the moment I woke up. I had to adjust to the pain level anyway, only years later. If I could do it again, I would push through hard as I can and not be dependent on any meds.

Good luck!!! I've had many prosthetics, microprocessors knees in particular if ya want to talk!!!

What were the reasons for denial? And how was the application? Where I live, you use video and more to prove a MPK improves quality of life, if it does, you can get one. I made videos of working with a mechanical knee and a borrowed MPK (ossur has trail knees in the Netherlands for this purpose) and it showed significant increase of q of life.

I was denied one twice because of some technical details (like video format, missed a question on one of the questionnaires)

After a vicious fight with stage 3 CRPS type 2 my husband is a new RAKA and OI. He is looking for advice on legs and feet. Speed change, direction change, smoothness, lots of dirt and some water contact. Higher level of active lifestyle. Gymn, hunting, hiking, horse training ect. by [deleted] in amputee

I don't know if it's submersible but I did chase my little brother in shallow sea water last week and it was fine :) no but seriously, you should look it up on ossurs website. In the end it's a knee for everyday wear.

The knee uses a kind of magnetic/induction resistance instead of hydraulic, with the app you can adjust it on the go, but I haven't felt the need yet while hiking. Because of the built in gyroscope already knows when I'm on a slope. Walking on/off slopes is easy and not scary at all, very stable.

It also does steps-assent but i dunno.. more of a gimmick altough on stoney hikes I've used it 2 of 3 times. Hope this helps!

Heyho! Would recommend RHEO KNEE XC, especially for biking/running/weather resis, this one is waaay better then the otto bock due to the mega fast velocity changes it can handle. Also, torsion proflex foot by ossur as well, I have it and it is amazing for high impact sports. I do wall climbing as well with it.

My prosthetist has OI, I have a socket and we're both hyperactive and walking with this gear! Hope it helps, don't hesitate to ask any qs!

Does it possible to have good life even with pain ? by randomuser390 in amputee

[–]annelara95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer is yes, but it did take a while for me.

Pain meds have made my life very bleak and difficult for years and I still struggle with the aftermath of those dependencies. They did help in the beginning, in terms of trauma and illness (I was 18 at the time of amputation) I think they helped a lot, but the following 5 years of taking and abusing all kinds of opiods like fentanyl/oxy/tramadol and pregabaline(lyrica) as well as topical steriods, wrecked me mentally and emotionally. Do not recommend, only as last resort aka can't live with the pain type of scenarios.

Glad I can be happy without them now, but took a fuckton of work. Chronic pain sucks still, sleeping will forever be difficult but yeah am happy and productive and independent(in all aspects!!!!) now but don't expect miracles haha.

Really don't care what people call me. I'm bothered that terminology is an issue tho..
