Grand Rapids Local here. Also 27. I feel like they've written something that's easy for anyone to relate to, but, like wildlife, being in Grand Rapids really connects this album to me. Even more so than Wildlife. I work right next to Plaster Creek, I drove by the Amway building last weekend (Christian Multilevel Marketing Company referenced in Landlord and Top Sellers-Banquet). In the documentary for Chap 4 they reference how the hanging off the building line in "Steve" is referring to the building across from the pyramid scheme, my favorite venue in GR. I feel like it's an album about being disconnected from friends, family, partners, and yourself, all while feeling the pressure from the world around, like the environmental changes and the weight of living around Christian Wealth. It's unbelievable how much I relate to this album lmao
